Class identity- economic, social, cultural and political inequalities.
I am a student at University of Manchester conducting a research project in Oldham/Failsworth/N/H
What is social 'class’? Is it still a helpful term for understanding today’s issues surrounding inequality?
Or is it no longer a relevant concept if less people see ‘class’ as part of their identity?...
But still recognise socio-economic issues and inequality? Do you want to discuss your ideas and opinions about today's inequalities and the relevance/non-relevance of 'social class' and what aspects of inequality better suit today's world?
This will be in a small focus group discussion. If so, I would love to hear from you!
I am an undergraduate student at University of Manchester, researching the place of ‘class’ in today’s society, despite most people agreeing that society is unequal, and ideas of the 1% and widening gaps between the rich and poor becoming commonplace, yet less people seem to identify with a ‘class’ position.

Are you a precariat, new affluent worker or elite? Study reveals there are now SEVEN social classes in the new jargon-filled British class system Five decades on from the famous Frost Report sketch, a new study has suggested British people now fit into seven social classes, with the most privileged sitting in the 'Elite' category and only one in seven in the 'traditional working class'.
