As we move into summer, this is a great time to build #hirbernaculum ready for the autumn when #amphibians leave the pond to shelter terrestrially.

Check out this lucky encounter! Our Operations Manager for Froglife Ecological Services, James, came across these #adders, one female, and two males! Have you been lucky enough to spot adders or other #reptiles this spring?

This is just one of the #ponds created in #Essex by #FroglifeEcologicalServices as part of Natural England's District Level Licensing scheme. This will support not just #Amphibians, but lots of other #Wildlife in the area too! #FES #DLL

During one of our GCN training courses, our Operations Manager James and his course participants had a lucky encounter with this roe deer. It's not just #Amphibians and #Reptiles that can be found at #HamptonNatureReserve! #FES O&H

A fabulous male great crested newt found during one of Froglife Ecological Services great crested newt licensing courses. See how he blends in with the surrounding habitat? This is why it is easier to spot them at night with a torch, but even with this method, it can be difficult! O&H #FES #GCN

Our Coalface to Wildspace, Midlands team was amazed to find both adult #SmoothNewts and larvae thriving in the first #pond they created at #WinterleyLaneAllotments. Why not build your own pond and see who makes it their home? Check out our booklet #JustAddWater for tips: https://ow.ly/w3OI50QWAzA

With spawning season well underway you might notice some movement and sounds from your local pond. Male frogs make their distinctive croaking sounds to let local females know they’re at the pond and to attract them over. It’s more common to hear this during rain or in the evenings as there is slightly less chance of predation during these times. Get out to your local pond and let us know if you spot any amphibians by recording them on our free #DragonFinder app: https://ow.ly/2mPw50QFENb

#Throwback to July. Our #ScottishGreenPathways staff visited an organic allotment in Bellahouston Park. The site was teeming with young #commonfrogs, and the team discussed plans to create a pond and bog garden to improve the biodiversity of the site and provide a suitable breeding ground for the frogs. Do you have a space that would benefit from a pond or bog garden in 2024? Check out our #JustAddWater handbook for all you need to know! #Glasgow #biodiversity
