Well that’s festival season over, we had an amazing few days at Tunes in The Park! A huge thanks to the team for working tirelessly on the griddle and turning out great coffee time after time … Now we can put the wellies away and look forward to getting back to the Creek for a much more relaxed affair, on the menu this week: Lemon Tart with Chocolate Pastry, Chocolate and Banana Loaf and Carrot Cake 🍰 ☕️ I hope to see you Sunday 🙏

After much deliberation I have taken the unfortunate decision to reduce my commitment to Ernesettle Creek to the 1st Sunday of every month. A busy work and family life means I currently struggle to commit to every week … so… much better to guarantee I’m there every 1st Sunday than to fail to attend! We love coming down to the Creek and feeling part of the great community of Ernesettle but at the moment there are simply not enough hours in the day. Sorry to all the regulars BUT I will be back Sunday 01st September for some coffee, cake and a catch up 🤩☕️

I’ll be back to the Creek Sunday morning as normal service resumes 🤩… Bakewell Tart, Brownie and ? TBC … I hope to see you there 0930-1200.

What a fab few days at the National Sheep Dog Trials, the Dartmoor summer weather was relentless as the van sunk further into the ground each day… but with a little help from the fine farming community the van was freed, ready for the next one! Looking forward to getting back to Ernesettle Creek for some calm… before Tunes in The Park next week 🙏

After a temporary breakdown this morning, with a little help from the team and also Mugs & Motors Clarified Detailing who came out to rescue the old girl, we made it! Great people, great cars, plenty of ice coffees and amazing burgers 👌 back to the Creek tomorrow 🙌🏼

Well, a long overdue happy new year!

Lots and lots of catching up to do, so in no particular order...

Had some basic classic tunes in for the start of the year.

The cool Citroën HY van had a starting issue to identify, along with a basic mixture and timing adjustment. The mixture just needed backing off a bit on idle, as did the ignition. A couple of runs up through all 3 forward gears (!) saw a nice clean part load result and no rich spikes on full load, so all good there now.

The intermittent loss of spark the owner has experienced was traced to an intermittent fault with an aftermarket points replacement module...there's plenty of junk flooding the market these days unfortunately, so watch what yr buying out there. Stick to the traditional tried and tested brands and you won't go wrong...buy a 30 quid unit rather than a 300 quid one and be prepared to get a 10% success rate.

Interesting fact:...these HY vans were designed to fit 2 cows in the back side by side!...no wonder it was a tight fit through the workshop door!
