We're doing more litterpicking this coming session (Friday May 24)!
Last time we had a massive turnout and are super grateful, and this week we need six new volunteers who did not partake last time on top of anyone else who wants to join! While this is taking place, we will be having our regular sessions running in Rolle 101 & 102 from & - 10pm as per usual.
Every 15 minutes of volunteering completed and logged on the UPSU website (https://www.upsu.com/volunteer/) counts as one raffle ticket towards our raffle for three £10 gift cards, which will be given out at the end of the academic year, as well as everyone receiving a certificate to show you took part.
As well as looking great on your CV, UPSU also provide rewards for volunteers that hit certain milestones, including free hot drinks, a custom mug, pin and more!
You will also receive a volunteer role on our discord server to show you took part!
If you want to know more, please reach out!

As part of a Student Union initiative, for the third time we are banning the use of single-use plastics (such as plastic bottles, food packaging, etc.) for this Friday (17th May). Instead, please feel free to bring reusable water bottles, cans, paper-packaged items, and other eco-friendly packaging alternatives!

Wii Walk (or take any other form of sustainable transport) to SwitchUP! For this weeks session on Friday 17th May (and all our sessions) we are encouraging our members to take some form of sustainable transport to attend this session! This may be via walking, bus, train, or cycling! As you know, we have been trying our hardest to partake in sustainable practices this year, and we're very proud of what we've done; thank you all for supporting our cause and getting involved with us!

14/05/2024

We have a SwitchUP! feedback form we'd be very grateful for all our members to fill out! Not only does it give us some feedback on how we're doing, it will be a big determiner in what we do next year and how much we do (i.e. pub hangouts, tournament games choices, what we do on the Friday sessions, what days we do stuff on and lots more)! There are only 6 mandatory tick box questions, so if you don't want to say much you don't have to! You can find the feedback form through this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfzrLYv0y87TxYa2-K1kCc3NeW2mEyTr3chJZm8WMzLa_X3Mw/viewform

And here they are! SwitchUP 2023/2024's finalists! Take them in, as any one of them could be crowned champion!

Tune in tomorrow in Rolle 101 & 102 at 7pm to watch the finals live in person or on our Twitch!

Finally, the Overcooked Tournament results! This tallies the final results from all of the points from the whole year! Very poetic that our mighty Chair Ellie, topped the leaderboard for the tournaments this year.

Stay tuned to find out who our finalists are later on today!

Photos from SwitchUp Plymouth's post 02/05/2024

Duck Hunters are here! With a three-way tie for 3rd place it was a most exciting event, and I'm sure everyone who took part had fun! The results for the Overcooked tournament will released at 3pm and then the participants for the Finals on Friday will be revealed at 5pm today with a post about each finalist!

Photos from SwitchUp Plymouth's post 02/05/2024

The first of the three remaining tournaments to be released! (Yeah it was released yesterday, but it was pointed out that I accidentally posted everyone's government names in the results which have now been taken down).

The Animal Crossing results will be released as well now.

30/04/2024

Come join us for our end-of-year tournament finale from 7pm-10pm in our usual Rolle 101 & 102 rooms (we are no longer in the Little Room)! The session will begin with some nice chill hang-out time including some inclusive large group games like 1-2 Switch and Just Dance before we get to the main event of the evening, which is.........

The finals of our year-long tournament starting at 8pm! The finals will include the members who reached the top 8 positions on the leaderboard of our year-long tournament. Unlike our usual tournaments, this finale will consist of 4 different games, most of which have yet to be seen at SwitchUP this year. The tournament will start with Runbow, an 8-player speedrunning platformer, and we will whittle our finalists down to only 2, with 2 players being eliminated from each round. Our 6-player round will be a newcomer game to SwitchUP Bomberman, played in its free-for-all battle mode; only 4 can move onto the penultimate round. Raving Rabbids will be our 4-player round, and all is at stake to determine who will be heading into the 1v1 round. There is no game more worthy of being SwitchUP's 2023/24 tournament final than Wii Play, the true pinnacle of 1v1 competition. For those not participating, feel free to spectate, cheering on your favourite to win, or if you're not interested, feel free to keep playing games on the side as if it is a casual hang-out session.

No Switch needed, we have our own SwitchUP Switch and plenty of controllers, but if you do have one, please bring it along!

We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting another Uni v Uni on the 20th April at 3pm. This time we be battling Staffordshire Uni Mario Kart society!

Now I know what you're thinking, "they're a Mario Kart society, they're specialists! They're gonna beat us no sweat!!!", and yes your thoughts might be true. However, in the eyes of SwitchUP a challenge is more fun than a slaughter, but we will not stand without fighting back and we will prove that we have the best Mario Kart players!

This tournament will take place once again in the 6v6 clan war format in which we will race 12 tracks with the total points of each team determining the victor!

13/04/2024

Some of us will be arriving at 7, but if anyone else wants to arrive earlier to save a table please do! 🙏

As always this event is more casual and there isn't any responsibility on the committee to run anything, however, it does look like there will be a decent amount of committee in attendance for this one.

We hope to see you there!
