Hey everyone😄
So.. I know it's been a hot minute since we had our last class together😔
During the pandemic I was nannying for a couple of beautiful families, now they have grown and no longer need their 'nanny' I am so excited to be returning to one of my favourite things in the whole world.. my baby signing classes🥳
We'll be back beginning of October ready for the autumn 🍂 🍄with more fun, songs, toys and tea!☕️
As usual, the first part of the lesson is dedicated to learning the signs, playing with various sensory items (think bubbles, colourful scarves and mirrors) and connecting with your baby, the second half of the lesson is to relax while the babes play with the toys, make new friends, vent about life and recharge before heading home again.
If we sound like your kind of people, just drop me a message to book your place.
I absolutely cannot wait!🤩
See you soon!
Holly ♥️

Before detachment, must first come attachment. Before independence, must first come dependence.
A huge amount of parenting advice for 0-5 year olds focuses on fostering independence. This independence is supposed to come when they are encouraged to be away from parents; be that on play dates, in groups and activities, at nursery and preschool and in their own rooms at night (all night). Only this isn’t how independence happens. You cannot teach (or force) a child to be independent if they are not ready to be so.
Independence implies that the child is done with being dependent. It implies that they are ready to leave the safe ‘hold’ of their parents. That they have the confidence and understanding of the world to no longer have any fear of what it may hold. .
Independence is a developmental milestone that is built firmly on the foundations and security that dependence brings. Without this groundwork, any seeming independence is fragile and superficial at best.
No young child can ever truly be independent, even the most seemingly independent ones. It is normal and necessary for them to still be dependent upon us. The best thing we can do is to allow this dependence and equally allow their growing independence (when they are ready). By neither refusing, preventing, or forcing a connection with ourselves, we encourage true independence – then and only then.

Why do I feel embarrassed when he struggles at handover and cries out for me? Why do I feel like I've messed up somewhere along the way?
Why do I race ahead on the walk home so that the other mums can't see me carrying my four-year-old?
What am I afraid of? To be seen to be mothering too hard, for too long?
Do their hearts suddenly outgrow us, just because their legs did?
Why is so much value placed on early independence? Why do we so heavily praise the well-behaved, the resilient, the brave, the ones who smash those arbitrary milestones, the ones who can soothe themselves?
What about the clingy ones? The 'difficult' ones. The ones that keep us up all night. The ones that struggle with change, transitions and...pants.
The ones that just need us that much and for that long. The childlike children. Is there not merit to be found there too? Something actually quite lovely about *that*?
What is the big rush? Is there supposed to be a cutoff to this intensive mothering of mine? Is it three, four, five... twenty-five?
No more apologies. I am his mum and I always will be.
