Portrush CSSM

Portrush CSSM comes to a close today with our final day of sections (all running at usual times) and our torchlight procession at 9pm.

For those children in Discoverers and Adventurers who are wanting to stay on for the torchlight procession we will keep them at Mark Street Halls between 8.30pm and 9pm.

At 9pm parents and family members are invited along to join us for refreshments before gathering in the church to start the procession.

For those parents who would like to make a donation to cover the costs of Portrush CSSM and to support the work of Scripture Union Northern Ireland, gift envelopes are available at registration desks; otherwise, you can give using the following link, selecting ‘Yes’ to responding to an appeal and selecting Portrush CSSM.

FANCY DRESS PARTIES!

Our minis section are having a fancy dress party tomorrow afternoon during our 3:00-4:30pm session.

Our discoverer section are having a fancy dress party night tomorrow night during our 7:00-8:30pm session.

Children do not have to wear fancy dress if they do not want to or don't have a costume. Please still come in your normal clothes!

Our Family BBQ takes place this evening at 7pm on the East Strand. Everyone welcome. (Primary age children need an adult to attend with them.) Suggested donation £1 for a burger or hotdog.

It’s a lovely afternoon & we’re planning to play Sandcastle Rollerball at the beach (Discoverers & older). It would be helpful if children could bring a bucket and spade.

As more rain seems likely later, we’ve decided to move our BBQ to Thursday. Look forward to seeing you then. Normal sections will run this evening for Discoverers, Advemturers, Seniors and Teens.

We’re looking forward to another week of CSSM. We begin again tomorrow at 10.15am. Seniors (ages 12-14) meet at St Patrick’s Hall; everyone else meets at Mark Street Halls. We’ll continue with games at 3pm in the afternoon and our evening session (ages 6+) starts at 7pm. Hopefully lots of last week’s attendees will be back but we hope to see some new faces too. You can register children/young people at the start of any session.

We’ve had a great first week of CSSM and have loved getting to know the children & young people who’ve been coming along. Sections meet as usual this evening but then we take a break until Monday. Hopefully, we’ll see lots of you again next week but, if you’re not around then and would like to support our work, you can make a donation at the link below. As registration is now open, some information about our activities…

CSSM will be running with our usual five sections: Minis (aged 3-5), Discoverers (aged 6-8), Adventurers (aged 9-11), Seniors (aged 12-14) and Teens (aged 15+).

Our programme for this year will be as follows:
10.15am – 12.15pm – All sections – Small groups and ‘CSSM Live’ family beach service
3pm – 4.30pm – All sections – Afternoon activities
7pm – 8.30pm – Discoverers and Adventurers – Evening activities
7pm – 9pm – Seniors and Teens – Evening activities

Children/teenagers are welcome to attend all our activities or they can come to whichever sessions suit your family.😀

This afternoon our discoverer, adventurer and senior sections are heading to the beach for dig the deepest hole. Remember to send along spades if you have one handy.

Tomorrow, we celebrate 130 years of Portrush CSSM at our CSSM Live birthday service. We hope lots of you will be able to join us. (Children come at the usual times.)

Weather permitting, we hope to have our family BBQ in the evening - 7pm, East Strand.

Gift envelopes & details of how to donate online will be sent home with the children tomorrow. Donating is entirely optional but all gifts, large or small, help to cover the mission expenses & support the work of CSSM and SU in the future.

Registration for Portrush CSSM 2023 is now open.

Please note, unlike recent years, this does not guarantee your child a place; it’s simply to give you the opportunity to complete the registration process online, rather than in-person. However, we have plenty of volunteers this year and fully expect to be able to accommodate all those children and teenagers who wish to attend. Looking forward to seeing everyone in July!😀
