Save The Children Community Charity Shop - Preston
Serving our community and raising funds from our shop in Sharoe Green Shopping Centre, Fulwood.
Did you peep through our windows and catch the shop looking a little different? If you notice the layout looking like this, it’s just possible that it’s our monthly volunteer social event! This time we got together to hang out watching The Princess Bride on the big screen whilst munching on hotdogs, nachos and cake. Little events like this help us know each other better, enjoy spending time as a team and let me, as a volunteer manager, spoil those people who give up their time to make it all possible!
Have you spotted our new handmade log slice signage? Our volunteers are so passionate about the work we do, they love finding new ways of telling you where the money you help us raise goes. Keep your eyes open in store for more information about the work we do.
Everything you need for your next adventure from as little as £1!
What would you cook in this tagine? Personally, I’m a big fan of this spiced vegetable tagine recipe from Justine Pattinson!

It's incredible to see how much our charity shop has evolved recently, but the one constant that remains is the dedicated team behind it all. Today, let's take a moment to show our appreciation for the longstanding volunteers who have been the strong foundation of the shop since the very beginning. Those of us who are new to the team are truly inspired by all of you who have been serving our community so steadfastly for years.
The best part of volunteering with Preston and Garstang Save The Children is that we get to do it together! Our two shops are only 14 miles apart which means we get the privilege of spending time together, sharing ideas, having fun, supporting each other and celebrating our achievements together!
We welcome individuals from 18 to 80 years old who are enthusiastic and love to have fun whilst working hard for a good cause. If you are interested in joining our diverse, determined (and often a little daft) team, pop in to either of the shops and say hi or apply online at https://buff.ly/4bDRmz1 .
Let's have some fun and make a positive impact together!
We can turn your old wellies into wellness, those books you wont read again into baby food, and that dress you wore for your friend's wedding into maternity care for a mother in need. Every item you donate funds work to make children's lives better in the UK and Worldwide.
Right now we are in desperate need of donations of books, clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, electricals and footwear. If you are able to support your community charity shop, please drop any items at our shop next to booths on Sharoe Green Lane

🌅 Sunday Evening 🌅and another week is in the bag for the team Save The Children Community Charity Shop - Preston. It’s been a busy week with so many amazing donations including some signed copies of The Carer and Rosary Connely’s biography📚📚✍️
There were so many 😂🤭giggles 🤭😂 going on in the back room as we tried to identify a random ⚡️electronic ⚡️item (it was an eyelash glue shaker! Of course!) and product tested the weighted 🤩hula hoop🤩.
Friday night saw our monthly 💃🏻🕺Volunteer Social night💃🏻🕺, where we get together for 🍔food 🍔and frivolity. This time it was pulled chicken and salt and pepper Tofu! It’s a great chance for those volunteers whose shifts don’t cross to get to know each other, 😂have a laugh 😂and just 🎶hang out together!🎶
I’ve been enjoying a 😴lazy Sunday😴 with my head in 📚Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel📚which will be heading to the shop this week for another bookworm to enjoy. If you too have been buried in a 📘good book📘this weekend or have a few finished ones that deserve a new reader, please bring them in. 📗📙We are always in need of non-fiction in good condition📗📙. We love a recommendation too!
The week ahead is National Volunteers Week so there will be lots of opportunities to join in celebrating our amazing volunteers in store!

Yesterday, Margaret and I were in at the crack of dawn doing the shop remerchandising to create a brighter, lighter space to accommodate double the amount of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing! The place looks amazing! 😍🤩😍🤩

It was an early start for us at the shop this morning as we created space to hold extra stock and try to make the shop easier to navigate for wheelchair and mobility aid users. It's looking lush😍 it's looking more spacious🤩and it's full of so much more stock! Electricals have been topped up too so the shop is brimming with bargains!
We've been working really hard to secure extra stock from our sister shops but we still need your help with donations of womenswear , menswear, children'swear, toys, books and bric-a-brac in good condition keeping our shelves full and the till ringing so we can help fund all the projects that help children in the UK and worldwide!
Whether you are a knitter, a ho**er or one of those annoyingly talented people who can do both, we have some amazing bargains for you with wool and tools from just £1, and of course we'll happily take your leftover yarn stash and allow those odds and ends to find a good home!
But, just for fun, let's hear your allegiances - are you , ?
We desperately need your help! We are working hard to fund the work that Save the Children does in the UK and worldwide because every child deserves a future, but we are running out of donations of bric-a-brac! If you have any good quality vases, ornaments, kitchenware, mugs, glasses, 'stuff' in general that you no longer need, please drop them off at the shop, opposite RPH between 9am-4pm Monday to Saturday. If you are unable to donate, please share this post wherever you can help to help us reach others who can!
Just a few days left to get ready for ! You can find us in the family activities tent with our tombola, whistles at the ready, b***y shaking and ready for some rum and tunes in the evening! come along and enjoy this amazing atmosphere with us, this Sunday from 12 noon - 9pm!
