A Year With Picasso

The sculpture of Pablo Picasso as a boy by artist Anthony D Padgett was unveiled this week, on the 9th October, by Francisco Salado Escano, Presidente of the Diputacion Provincial de Malaga the courtyard of the Mª Victoria Atencia (MVA) cultural center.

Malaga is the town where Picasso was born and spent his early childhood.

Padgett said, even as a child Picasso had great artistic talent. His father was an art teacher and Picasso soon surpassed him as a realistic painter, before developing his abstract work as an adult.

To quote Picasso - "The first half of life is learning to be an adult-the second half is learning to be a child."

The sculpture was created after extensive research in museums and libraries of Malaga and is a few hundred metres from the house Picasso grew up in.

Wednesday 5th April 2023 An afternoon of talks to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Death of Pablo Picasso.

Talks by award winning artist Anthony D Padgett whose A Year With Picasso project has been exhibited around the UK.

Padgett's other works include sculptures of Vincent Van Gogh and Kurt Schwitters that have been sited internationally.

Each session is £5 - total of £15 for the whole afternoon.

The painting Guernica was toured in 1938 by Sir Roland Penrose to raise funds for the Spanish Republicans. Picasso stayed with Penrose and Lee Miller in1950 in Chiddingly (where my masks and Dove were recently unveiled).
