Fab drop-in JustDraw class last night with super fun amazing ladies ⭐️💜!! Theme was: Christmas Birds … 😜🐦😁!! These were mini studies that again could be given as Christmas card gifts 🎁 🎄.

We call it ‘having a play’ … with no real end goal other than being in the moment and do what feels right! It was ‘no paint brush day’ so out came the pallet knives. What transpired was a Sky piece full of energy and thickly applied acrylic paint … bliss 🙏🏼😁💜!!

Such a fun JustDraw tonight with a fab group of ladies 🤩🙏🏼💜!! We explored small drawings that could potentially be turned into Christmas cards! The theme was Winter Landscapes & heightened contrasts 😁 ❄️ 🎄.

It’s been an emotional couple of weeks ❤️‍🩹 my fun vivacious aunt passed away this week!

She had battled cancer, she never laid down to it right to the end! She chose when her time was … it was on her terms as always 😊!

She reminded me even when she found it hard to speak … to always follow your PASSIONS be FEARLESS be PERSISTENT like she was and to LOVE your family and friends DEEPLY 🙏🏼❤️🌸 ☀️

Three amazing year 9 students each with very different interests in art 🙏🏼⭐️!

One loves exploring a wide range of media the other is in love with drawing and the last one is into fashion designing. The first wanted to understand how to layer watercolour, the other mood in faces and the third to explore how light creates shape & shadows 🥰⭐️🥳!!

What they don’t realise is that although I am their artist-mentor … they are also my teacher 🙏🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️🥰!!

Last weekend it was just brilliant to be away painting on the south coast! The weather gods decided to extend summer and they did not disappoint … with spectacular sunsets and dancing cloud formations! A painter’s paradise 🙏🏼🦐🐟☀️💓xx

Two boats lolling on a canal by a weir … love how this amazing artist in our 1-2-1’s (you know who you are 😜) has created movement & reflection in the water 🤩💜!

What do you think … ?

When ‘sketching-in’ with paint I tend to use bigger brushes (filbert/flat) … this is so that my ‘critical’ mind does not spend time in detail 😜😆!! But rather it’s about shape and volume. Allowing the painting space to emerge. Space equally affords me the opportunity to collaborate with the brushes, the paint, the paper and therefore ‘flow’ occurs 🙏🏼💜xx

A before breakfast ‘automatic’ playful quick study of something out of random marks on a page! At one stage I thought it might emerge as a forest … but the universe decided this 👇😜😆🙏🏼💜 (aquarelle pencils, water & a brush) xx

Finally got round to completing this gorgeous boy! Thank you 🙏🏼😘 to a wonderful group of inspiring individuals today 😜 each of whom are super talented in their own right 🤩!! I have not been as committed to finishing pieces off … are you 😜?

Super fab session teaching ‘light planes’ building up the structure of a face using tints/tones & shades in acrylic paint. Often young artists are in a rush to add I detailed features…but rather take the time to figure out the bone structure 😜🙏🏼🎉🥰xx

The final JustDraw: The Ocean from a couple of weeks ago … just love 🤩💜🎉 the tonal investigation and using the turtles pattern to create shape & form!!

Starting Wednesday 12th April 😁running for 3 weeks 7.30-9pm!! With so much growth happening 🌸 thought this would be an appropriate step change in theme 😜😘.
