Cold weather and asthma = horrible, I’m officially upping my game to 3 runs a week, infused with some adrenaline-pumping sprints! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Nailed a 2-mile run today – that’s my starting pace. Managed 4 and a half sprints before a hamstring twinge reminded me of my age. Today was as much a mental battle as a physical one. Recovery isn’t my strongest suit, which is why those sprints are key. Here’s to pushing limits and swift recoveries!

13 months ago Emma delivered twins following on from only 19 months since a singleton pregnancy.

Want to work on your leg muscles? Leg presses can be a great exercise for targeting your quads, glutes, and hamstrings. But did you know that there are different variations you can do to focus on specific areas? Here are a few to try:

1) Β Decline leg press: In this variation, you'll lower the footplate to an angle of around 45 degrees, which targets the glutes and helps to build power from the start of the movement. Be sure to maintain control and engage your core throughout the exercise.

2) Quad position leg press: This variation requires placing your feet higher and forward on the footplate, with your toes pointed up towards the knees. This aims to target the upper portion of your quads, helping to build strength and definition in this area. Be sure to gradually increase the weight and focus on maintaining good form throughout the movement.

3) Wide stance leg press: To perform the wide stance leg press, you'll place your feet shoulder-width apart or wider, with toes pointed outward. This variation targets your glutes and hamstrings, while also engaging your quads. Be sure to maintain good form and keep your knees aligned with your toes throughout the movement.

Also, The single-leg press is performed with one leg at a time, helping to correct muscle imbalances and improve stability. This variation requires less weight than the traditional leg press, so you'll want to start with a lower weight and focus on control and balance throughout the move

Remember that each leg press variation targets different muscle groups, so it's important to vary your routine and incorporate a mix of exercises to achieve a well-rounded leg workout. Always start with a weight that allows you to perform 12-15 repetitions with good form, and aim to increase the weight gradually over time as your strength improves. With consistent effort and a variety of targeted exercises, you can achieve your leg muscle goals in no time.

Pyramid training is an effective form of strength training that involves gradually increasing the intensity of your workout by increasing the weight or number of reps you complete. It is sometimes referred to as "ramping up" because of the shape of the weight progression, which resembles a pyramid.

The benefits of pyramid training include improving muscular strength and endurance, increasing muscle mass, and boosting overall fitness levels.

Pyramid training works by gradually increasing or decreasing the intensity of the exercise and starting at a low weight. This allows you to gradually increase the weight and repetitions as your body adjusts to the increased load and as your muscles become stronger. As you progress up the pyramid, the weight and repetitions increase until you reach the peak of the pyramid and then decrease until you reach the base.

Pyramid training is an effective way to get stronger and build muscle without the risk of injury that comes with more intense exercises. It is also an effective way to break up the monotony of a regular strength training routine and can help you stay motivated to keep exercising. Additionally, pyramid training will help you burn more calories and fat in a shorter amount of time.
