"As part the Business Administrator Apprenticeship, I have played a part in working on supplier management projects. Looking into supplier/partner performance through creating KPI (Key Performance Indicators) with the aim to match what the supplier claims to have completed.

As of March 2022, The team created a new supplier Finance Report. I was fortunate to be able to run this report monthly to feedback to the team with the results. I was able to document a work process to complete this monthly reporting for future new starters.

I've enjoyed meeting new people in our office environment and finding it easy to make those new connections that really matter. I have had great support from all my team members with apprenticeship work offering new insights into their realm of specialities to enhance my knowledge of a subjects."

We spoke with Planner Apprentice, Tom, to find out about life as a Planner Apprentice, what's involved, and what the best bits are! Here's what he told us...

'I have been with Virgin Media as an apprentice for 17 months and I've absolutely loved it! It's given me the perfect balance of gaining real life industry experience in my day-to-day planning role while also learning new project management skills. The chance to work while gaining a professional qualification is an amazing opportunity. The company really cares about your future and invests in your personal development.'

'From early on in my apprenticeship, I was given responsibility and new challenges to face every day. This chance to be a part of a team and have my own workstreams and goals to hit is really motivating and I love being a part of it. My manager allows me to easily balance my day-to-day work alongside my apprenticeship work and the advice and knowledge I gain from them is a massive positive to my experience so far.'

We spoke with Chloe, a Health, Safety and Environment Apprentice, who is learning how to keep our employees safe and how best to support Health and Safety practices while promoting our Zero Harm Vision. Here's what she told us about her day-to-day...

'When I am out in the field, I go to sites to see how the site is set up safely as well as having safety conversations with colleagues. This is a great opportunity for colleagues to ask questions and raise any concerns as well as build positive working relationships.'

'My other day to day tasks involves investigating any work accidents or incidents, monitoring systems such as Safe On Arrival, discussing safety performance in monthly partner SPM’s as well as being involved in projects raising any concerns. I work within a great team who are extremely supportive and are helping me build my work skills as well as my knowledge.'

In this role, you will take on a huge variety of projects and responsibilities. You'll gain transferable skills that will stick with you throughout your professional life. Working within our Build teams, you'll be responsible for expanding our lightning fast broadband speeds into new areas. You'll use the RAID Project Management technique to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You should be confident in your problem solving skills as well as hungry to drive your own development. Amazing organisation skills are key as you'll be handling dozens of projects at once.

Our apprenticeships are made up of modules and milestones, and you'll be required to provide evidence against these modules. You may even have the chance to undertake additional technical qualifications.

Once all the modules and milestones are complete, you'll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA). This is usually made up of an interview and a project. It's conducted by an external organisation and is graded as either pass, fail, or distinction.

Don't worry though! During your time on the apprenticeship, we'll prepare you for each stage. You'll receive a full learning plan, outlining the entire programme, details on your assessment process and how you will be assessed, a study timetable, and any useful information and links specific to your programme.
