Swelling is just part of the package when it comes to trauma. It’s completely individual, however, this is a good example of swelling and believe it or not I would consider this quiet swollen immediately following injection compared to some.
The problem with swelling and social media is I’ve seen so many posts on TikTok etc with absolutely horrific swelling followed by the influencer saying ‘this is completely normal’. It’s actually not completely normal to be 20 times bigger. After carrying out thousands of lip augmentations I can say I have never had anyone significantly swollen like in some videos you see. This is usually down to traumatic techniques and product choice. Don’t get me wrong swelling is 100% normal but to what extent is questionable.

You can see the cheeks appear slightly more lifted and contoured, the under eye area around the mid face appears softer (no Tear trough has been carried out neither). The whole lower face including jaw, chin and marionette area also appear much more smooth, soft and lifted. A tiny amount has been added to the lips for volume, however swelling and redness can be seen. Remember dermal fillers can age people when over done, this is why consistently ensure ethics are paramount to our practice.
Amount of filler - 3mls

Pain - minimal discomfort, topical anaesthetic as well as anaesthetic in the filler.

Now this can also be a reminder that we are all individual, unique and beautiful in our own way.

What we never do on our photos is filter.
It’s incredible how many before and afters are filtered when scrolling down social media. All our pictures are before and immediately following injection unless it says otherwise. We always try to get the same lighting including in our skin imagines. What you see on social media isn’t always true and don’t be drawn in by the unrealistic filters. 💖

I Don’t usually post on a Sunday but how can I not when I’m working through photos and come across this! 🤩
Before the most recent after picture our patient hadn’t had dermal filler for 17 months! However, this patients biggest transformation is how she now walks into clinic confident and holds herself completely different to when we first seen her 💖 she is now happier at looking at herself again, which believe it or not is more common than you think so many patients we see don’t feel themselves looking in the mirror.
I am aware the pictures aren’t the exact angles, however, that doesn’t take away the face she hasn’t aged a day over the past 3 years 😮 I will be seeing her again soon and keep you updated on her most recent treatment.

What do i love about this picture?
This patient is only 18 years old which is extremely young yet the legal age to undergo lip augmentation (this is what I love by the way and actually don’t like that part)… (anyway)…Our patients mum (another patient of mine) had an agreement with her daughter that she had to promise when the time came if she did decide to undergo treatment she had to come to me as she felt she would be in safe experienced hands 💖.
What do I not so love about this picture? She was terrified her daughter was going to have them done before she turned 18 elsewhere because she was adamant she wanted them done and unfortunately and sadly enough there’s so many cowboys everywhere injecting illegally underage which is a huge safeguarding issue.
I don’t actually treat many young people as I mainly specialise in treating patients age 40 +, however, when I do this is usually the case or word of mouth. I feel honoured to have had your trust to treat your daughter 💖 Thankyou.
Also if you are thinking of undergoing any treatments please be careful this is not a beauty treatment and if in the wrong hands could be detrimental.
