Today, we are carb and injector cleaning on the MG2 Ransomes Crawler

What a beautiful day for tinkering!

With rally season fast approaching, it’s time to get a wiggle on and get the vehicles ready. Todays challenge is the fuel system on my new 1936 MG2 Ransomes Crawler. She’s still not firing up atm, there’s spark, there’s compression so the next thing is the fuel system.

I’ve taken the tank off to give that a really good clean up, and I have also stolen the fuel bowl off of our other Ransomes crawler (non runner) to put it on this one as it’s a better design.

I will also be starting that slippery slope of “well it’s off, I may as well paint it”…. Let the fun commence

Well, she’s looking a bit different now! The first time in months she hasn’t been held up with blocks or jacks.

Engine rebuild, all new bearings, gaskets, seals etc, and a lovely paint job by Dad. We are getting new injectors on Wednesday. The plan is to have her running by Easter.

East Midlands Steam Rally, here we come!

This week, we collected the engine block for our Fordson Major. We sent it off to T L Engineering for a good clean up, new liners, new pistons etc. The crank was also sanded down and looks like new.

We can now start with the engine rebuild! Rally season will soon be with us so we’d best hurry up.

Hello, and welcome to my page, Vintage Earl. Through my work, and through my personal interest, I tend to acquire lots of old tools, some furniture and plenty of vehicles. So I thought I may as well try and earn a couple of quid whilst I do something I enjoy.

Almost all of the vehicles we restore will be for our personal collection, however, the tools and furniture I will work on will more than likely be for sale.

These vintage tools were picked up from a garden shed cleared in Finedon, Northants. I won’t be doing a great deal to these, sand down the blades and restore to metal. The handles will be gently sanded, treated for woodworm and then covered with oil to leave a lovely wooden finish.

These will be perfect for someone with an interest in old time farming, and will look great mounted in a village pub/house or man cave. Keep following to keep up to date with the progress.
