What a few days it’s been for the Isle of Wight Indoor Bowls Club. Carole Walton, Steff Ball, Gay Allen & Anne Bernard have qualified for the National Fours finals, Alan Cawdell, Darren Griffith & Jack Berry are through to the finals in the Triples, Darren & Jack are also through in the Pairs, and Darren has finished off a great week by qualifying in the Singles too.

The second Isle of Wight indoor bowls tournament gets underway this weekend with four preliminary round games on Saturday at 9:30am. Games to be played are -
Allen Best & Ryan Trigg v Carol Jones & Julie Wilson
John Attrill & Gary Soal v Sheila Cawdell & Val Mardell
Alan Cawdell & Mark Morris v Cam Crawford & Pat Hartigan
Anne Bernard & Ron LeLeux v Pam Grundy & Ray Hooper
The winners progress to round 1 of the championship, the loser automatically go into the consolation event.

Entries are invited for the 2nd Isle of Wight IBC Open Tournament. The maximum number of entries will be 32 teams, playing in ‘Australian Pairs format. Teams can be either women, men or mixed.
There will be a seeded draw, with first round losers being automatically entered into the consolation event.
The prize pool is £400. The winning team in the main event will collect £200, and the runners up get £100. The winning team in the ‘consolation’ event will collect £70, with £30 going to the runners up.
Entry is free, but £4 per person green fees are payable for every game.

Open Day this Saturday, 24th September, 10am to 3pm.
Learn to bowl for free, just bring along flat soled shoes/trainers, etc. Qualified coaches available.
Bar & Restaurant
The indoor club is now closed for two weeks for staff holidays and essential cleaning. When we re-open (on September 12th) it will be from 9:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. We will also open some evenings if required.
The internal Leagues start on Monday 3rd October. From that day we will be open from 9:30am to 9:30pm, Monday to Friday. Except Tuesdays, when we will close at 4:30pm.
Our Open Day is on Saturday 24th September.
We have a Charity Triples Gala all day on Saturday 1st October.
Bowlswear Direct will be at our club on Saturday 8th October.
The 2022/23 membership forms are now avavailable on the website, and at the club.
Throughout the summer we only open for the morning session, with play from 10am to 12:20pm.
This coming week we will be open on Tuesday 31st May, Wednesday 1st June and Thursday 2nd June ONLY.
The following week, and every week thereafter for the rest of the summer, we will open Tuesday's to Friday's.
A reminder that the restaurant is open on all of those days, until 1pm.
The club re-opens of Tuesday (19th April) for the summer season. It will then be open each week until the end of August, on Monday’s to Thursday’s, from 10am to 12:20pm. If you want to play in the organised roll-up them please register your name with the steward by 9:45am.

Sitting at the indoor club watching the Open Pairs final. Very close, just over half way …….
Congratulations to Norman, Peter & Pete, the sucessful team at today’s Triples Gala. No teams won all their games, but these three were unbeaten, with 4 wins and a draw. Token prizes were awarded to the winners.
This Saturday will be a busy one at the indoor club. The Bowlswear Direct Roadshow will be with us from 10am (to 2pm), selling bowls, bowls clothing and equipment, with a chance to try out new bowls before you buy them. Then at 1:30pm the ladies team will play the men. Finally, at 6pm the club will host the semifinals of the Open Pairs and the Final of the Consolation Event. The bar and restaurant with be open throughout the day.
The indoor club is closed today (Friday 18th Feb). All league games will be rearranged. Tomorrow’s game against Shanklin BC goes ahead as normal at 1.30pm, as does the ‘spoon drive’ at 6pm for 6:30.
We are holding a coffee morning on Sunday 13th February in aid of McMillan Cancer Support. At the same time the club will be hosting the quarter finals of the Open Pairs. The top eight seeded teams are still in, so it should be a high standard of bowls.

Sorry to announce that the heater above rinks 4 to 6 is broken. A service call has been placed, but at the moment it’s not known when it will be fixed. The other heater has been programmed to come on earlier to help compensate, but its likely to be cooler on rinks 4,5 & 6.
On Saturday 8th January our ladies take on Arun IBC for a place in the national quarter finals of the Yetton Plate. Two rinks play at home, and two more play away. (Start time to be confirmed). Please come along and support them.
The club will be closed from 24th December to 3rd January (inclusive). Leagues start again on 5th January.
The Isle of Wight Indoor Bowls Club is on the outskirts of Ryde, behind McDonalds, near Tesco. Its open from 9:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, some evenings, and some weekends.
New and experienced players are always welcome, and you can learn to play for free! We provide all equipment, please just bring some flat sole shoes.
