This weekend started with the most fantastic workshop! We made bespoke circle skirt patterns from scratch! It was a morning full of fun and lots of learning!

We also had our Beginner's Level 2 this weekend which includes, gathering, piping, binding, appliqué and sewing on a curve.

A great class, with a great bunch!

We had a brilliant time at our Sewing Club Social this weekend! Some great fabrics hit the machines for some really creative projects!

About the project:
Stitch Department will be collaborating on a heritage project with Department, Ryde and Shademakers UK, inspired by the history of the Department building on Cross Street, Ryde. This building has a fascinating history of ironmongery, hardware, corset making, millinery, tailors, cobblers and bridal.
Stitch Department will be creating an installation for the upcoming exhibition. We will be making a dress art piece, honouring the building's heritage. During these workshops, we will create small pieces using several different sewing techniques, linking to different aspects of the building’s history which will then be pieced together to create the final dress.

An exciting chance to increase your pattern cutting knowledge and make a circle skirt pattern (from scratch!) bespoke to your own measurements.

We visited the Department building last week and it was so exciting to see all the progress being made. We saw the space where Stitch Department will be and it's incredible to think that this will soon be our creative studio!

Have you thought about getting in to sewing but don’t know where to start? Our Beginner’s Workshop is the one for you!
Build your confidence on the machine as we learn several different stitches, all with transferable skills to continue your dressmaking journey! We will also talk through threading up the machine and how it works!

Exciting News! Amber will be offering a limited amount of 1:1 sewing tuition for individuals and private small groups! These sessions can be tailored to your ability and requirements of what you would like to learn!

Summer's on the way, and we are making beach bags!
Made from up cycled materials, come and join Stitch Department in making a large zero waste tote bag!
All materials and equipment provided 🪡✂

We will repurpose fabrics that would otherwise go to landfill and create a large beachbag to chuck everything in! You will practice french seams and attach straps to complete this bag!

An absolutely fantastic weekend of fully booked workshops at Stitch Department!

We started off with our 'Intro to Overlocking' workshop, where we all had a go at threading up the overlocker and learning lots of tips and tricks to using it.

We then had our 'Clothing Alteration' workshop which went through the most common clothing alterations needed and how I would tackle them. Everyone brought their own items to get advice on how to go forward with altering!

Two absolutely lovely bunches of people! Thanks so much to everyone for coming!
