ROTHER DRAFT LOCAL PLAN 2020-2040 – CONSULTATION DATES: 12 weeks from 30 April – 23 July 2024
Rother District Council are currently updating their Local Plan, which has now reached the first Consultation Stage. Residents of the Parish are encouraged to read and comment on the plan, particularly in the areas which affect the Parish of Brede. The Local Plan, along with the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA), Part 2 Chapter 4 Rye and the eastern Settlements cluster, give detail of where any prospective sites for development in Brede in the future might be and also sites that have been considered and currently rejected.

Road Works, A28 Brede Hill, 11th June, 8pm to 5am

Balfour Beatty will be carrying out site investigation works in A28 Brede Hill, Brede, on behalf of East Sussex Highways.

What does the work involve?

The investigation involves trial holes and core holes being drilled at various points into the carriageway surface to allow for testing of the carriageway sub-surface. The results of these investigations will allow us to determine the condition of the carriageway and the extent of larger works which may be required later in the year.

When do they start?

Work will take place on Tuesday 11 June. Any changes to the dates or times will be notified via advanced warning signs on site.

How will this impact highway users?

The road will remain open with temporary traffic signals in place. There may be some minor delays whilst machinery is being moved. The team will be onsite between 8pm-5am.

The team will be working between the Stubb Lane junction and the Knights Lane junction.

Red Telephone Box in Cackle Street
No volunteers have come forward to renovate this phone box and run it as a community space, so the Parish Council will now look at selling it. To try and keep it within the parish, interested residents are invited to contact the Parish Clerk with any offers to purchase it. Buyers will be responsible for moving costs and arrangements.

Roadworks Udimore Road, 20th to 27th May 2024

Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out drainage works in Udimore Road, Brede.
Once completed, these works will help alleviate flooding to the carriageway and private property.

When do they start?
Work will be carried out between Monday 20 May and Monday 27 May. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

How will this impact highway users?
The road will remain open to through traffic with temporary signals in place. The team will be onsite between 9:30am-4pm.

The works will be working outside property ‘St Vincents’.
If you need vehicle access, please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind, there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshals.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
