Morning all,

This morning I have just signed myself up to a 6 week fitness program. Those who know me know that I’m a gym virgin and don’t like exercise in any way shape or form. This is a massive challenge for me and really pushing me out of my comfort zone. I will be starting this challenge on the Monday 31st August 2023. I am going to be doing this as a sponsored event to help raise money for our trip to Milawi. Please help and donate if you can or sponsor me.

Hi, My name is Helen Speak.

I run a Mental Health Community Support Group in Scarborough.
We have been very successful,
Three years ago, after seeing the good work I was doing here in the UK, both face to face, peer to peer support and online support in regards to Mental Health, I was approached by Imedi and asked if at some point I would like to go out to Africa and visit the village he lives in, and to see the work he has put into his local community Centre which he runs.

Until very recently the timing has not been right. However, after much thought and discussions, two friends of mine (Elisa and Terri Anne) have also decided to join me on the trip.
The trip will cost a lot of money. Although we are funding part of the trip ourselves, we are asking members of the public for help with any donations however big or small. Alongside this, we are going to be holding a number of fundraising events and we would ask all of our friends and family to get involved, by encouraging and supporting us.
Until we have all of the air fares we can’t give a specific date of the trip. However, we are hoping that it will be early spring. We are looking for a target of £2000. The funding would be going towards our flights and accommodation.

I think I can speak for all three of us when I say. Each one of us has something different to offer. The main aim is to make a difference to lots of people’s lives. We want to join in with the different cultures and learn from them. Also we want to put our skills/knowledge together to help them live happy/healthier lives by increasing awareness of Mental Health and giving them the tools to be able to keep it up after our visit.
