The Friends of Dean Road and Manor Road Cemetery invite you to join Liz Blades on a Cemetery Walk about the 1914 bombardment of Scarborough and in particular Emily Merryweather. There is no cost but a donation would be appreciated. Footwear for grass and uneven paths. Meet at Manor Road Chapel, on SUNDAY NOVEMBER 17 FROM 2PM-3.30PM. What the Sea Saw > The Scarborough Fair (DISCLAIMER Bespoke) 02/11/2024

You are invited to a live theatrical event celebrating local memories of Scarborough’s fishing community on the 23rd of November at the Sea Cadets hall at 4.30pm and 6.30pm. Created with singers and actors, 'What the Sea Saw' is a community commemoration of the town’s relationship with the sea. Performed in the beautiful surroundings of the Sea Cadets hall, illuminated by lanterns and accompanied by music, the performance features several generations of stories of fishing and saving lives at sea.Refreshments will be available at both performances.

Tonight, Monday 21st October, at 7.30pm, the Scarborough Archaeological & Historical Society presents a lecture at the Salvation Army Hall, Alma Parade.

Dr Pete Wilson will present a one hour talk entitled “Eastfield, a multi-period landscape and roman period mystery". The Eastfield roman remains discovery in 2021 received nationwide media coverage.

Dr Wilson is a widely published British historian and former Head of Research Policy (Roman Archaeology) at English Heritage. He has been published extensively as an authority of Roman Britain for over 30 years.

Entrance is £3, refreshments from 7pm, doors close 7.25pm.
