We are delighted to announce that the Scarecrow Festival raised an amazing £302.41 for NDU5s today 🥳

Thank you to everybody who made this possible, from stuffing scarecrows and colouring masterpieces, to munching popcorn and solving riddles (it was Kindergarten Cop, by the way 🤣)

Plus, a great big thank you to Stuart from the Parish Council for donating our wonderful rosettes, as well as Olivia’s Tearoom and William’s Den for our incredible prizes 🏆

SCARECROW FESTIVAL ADVICE #3 👩‍🌾

Are you wondering how to make your scarecrow stand up? 🤔

You might be able to use a post to support your scarecrow 💪🏻 But sometimes, the shape and size of your scarecrow won’t allow for this, or you might not have the right equipment 🔨

Don’t worry! There are so many ways to prop up your scarecrow 💡

You could…

⭐️ Sit your scarecrow on a chair or a stool
⭐️ Put them on a step ladder
⭐️ Sit them on a doorstep or in a porch
⭐️ Use children’s play equipment

Over the years, we’ve also seen scarecrows hanging out of windows and popping out of holes… we love the creativity 🤩

👨🏼‍🍳 Making mud pies is messy fun, but it's also a huge learning opportunity. 🗣️Language skills as they talk about their ingredients. 🔢 Maths skills as they measure out. 🧑🏻‍🤝‍🧑🏻 Collaborative skills as they work together. Isn't mud amazing!
Learning isn't always about being taught, it's also about curiosity, investigation and discovery 🔎

SCARECROW FESTIVAL ADVICE #1 👨🏼‍🌾

Are you wondering where to get straw from? Or what else you can stuff your scarecrow with? 🤔

Well, straw isn’t the only option! You could try rags, old clothes, towels, plastic bags, shredded paper, newspaper, dried leaves, grass and garden clippings 🌿

If you have any other ideas, or if you have a neighbour or friend who can supply straw, please comment below with their details. Sharing is caring ❤️

It's great to meet up with friends at the park. 🌞 This morning, some of our children asked if we could go to the park to play as it was such a nice day, so we did. 🌈🌳 It's important to listen to and observe what our children are interested in. An interested child is a learning child. 🎓🧠

Glenn joins NDU5s with a wealth of experience in the Early Years sector. Along with a BA(Hons) in Early Childhood Studies, Glenn has been nominated for and won numerous awards, writes for many Early Years publications, and presents a popular podcast, too! 🤩 🏆✍🏻📚🎤

We’re sure you’ll agree that his experience and accolades are incredibly impressive. But, most importantly, he is a brilliant human being and our little ones love him already ❤️
