At Mencap Charitable Works in Sheffield, H E Barnes has rewired their sensory room and installed new lighting.

It is great to help an independent charity that supports more than 500 people with learning disabilities and autism, and their families.

Memorial in Barnsley Town Centre for Those Who have Lost their lives to COVID:

A memorial has been created to the citizens of Barnsley who have sadly lost their fight with COVID 19.
H E Barnes has had the honour of installing the lighting for this memorial which gives it the focal point it deserves as we remember all those affected.

Currently, there are many people in the UK struggling to provide for themselves and families, due to a number of reasons including unemployment, low incomes, illness etc.

As part of the The Trussell Trust who provide support to over 420 foodbanks across the UK, The Chesterfield Foodbank do an amazing job, working tirelessly to provide emergency food packs for those in crisis.

Britcon (UK) Ltd, together with its Client, Chesterfield Waterside (Bolsterstone Group PLC and Chesterfield Borough Council), Bond Bryan Architects and H E Barnes Ltd. our MEP subcontractor, have raised and donated £530 of food essentials in the hope we can provide some support to this amazing charity and the local community.

Councillor Tricia Gilby, Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to support Chesterfield Foodbank by making this donation. The team at Chesterfield Foodbank do an amazing job to support local families in these unprecedented times.

“We hope this donation will be able to make a real difference to the lives of local families.”

This Morning our H E Barnes and Solutions 4 Cleaning Vans have been out delivering something a bit different than our usual stock. Partnering with our workwear provider, BTC Workwear, we have donated 400 sets of woolly hats and gloves to Sheffield Cathedral Archer Project who help homeless people achieve a better life by supporting them with access to hot food, drinks and food parcels, healthcare, personal care, IT and other practical support services. With guidance from Archer Project, HEB and S4C have donated food items that were in high demand but limited supply due to the pandemic. Although we could not fundraise through an event or volunteer with the current COVID restriction in place, the team at H E Barnes and Solutions 4 Cleaning hope our contributions make a difference for those facing homelessness at Christmas

HE Barnes Ltd donates £10,000 to Yorkshire’s largest food charity

HE Barnes Ltd has partnered up with FareShare Yorkshire to distribute surplus food to frontline projects. The Sheffield-based mechanical, electrical and facilities management company made the donation in September in response to a call for help, when the charity faced an overwhelming demand for surplus food. The five-figure donation towards the charity’s van costs means that its 60 volunteers will be able to deliver enough food for 500,000 extra meals each year.

Jonathan Williams the charity’s Head of Development said “We cannot thank the Directors of HE Barnes enough for their generosity. They approved a request of £5,000 and then doubled it so our team can do everything possible to support vulnerable people at this time. Many frontline services like lunch and breakfast clubs still cannot operate as normal but they are now more important than ever before, as increasing numbers of people face isolation and an uncertain future. The support of HE Barnes means that our volunteers can utilise a van to deliver enough food for two million meals over the next four years.”

FareShare Yorkshire has been redistributing in-date surplus food from growers, manufacturers and retailers for 21 years. The Barnsley and Leeds based charity provided over 1,500 tonnes of food to 300 charities and community groups during the last 6 months, with demand set to rise further over the winter period.
