🌟 Completed Project - Basil Ward Refurbishment at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS FT & Royal Primary Care 🌟

HE Barnes proudly completed a comprehensive refurbishment of the Basil Ward at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for the NHS Trust, in conjunction with VINCI Construction.

This extensive project involved stripping out all existing systems and replacing them with state-of-the-art solutions to enhance the ward's functionality and patient care.

We are thrilled to announce that the refurbishment was completed on the 5th of July and was executed with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Key Upgrades Included:
Lighting and Power Systems
Fire Alarm Systems
Data and Access Control Systems
Nurse Call Systems
Heating and Ventilation Systems
Domestic Water Services
Medical Gas Systems
Air Conditioning System
Smoke Damper and Building Management Systems (BMS)
Sanitaryware and Drainage

Here at HE Barnes we pride ourselves on being able to work across a variety of different sectors, highlighted by our recent completed project at assisted living accommodation Manor House in Stannington, having recently completed the Fire Safety Compliance Works in conjunction with Sheffield City Council.

The works included the following; Fire Door Replacement, Fire Stopping, Fire Alarm Replacement, Emergency Lighting Replacement and Asbestos Removal including making good to all areas affected.

The work was carried out in a live environment whilst the building was 50% occupied, which now enables the management team on site to implement a stay put policy.

Following completion, we asked the tenants of Manor House for their feedback:

‘The workmen have been polite and cleaned up as they have moved from flat to flat. They have worked fast with the electrics and the alarms, all the tenants have agreed that the workmen work hard, I thank them all.’

‘ I have had no issues, I have been informed every week of what is happening and have been supported where required, the workers have been friendly and polite, it will be very strange not to have all the ‘Good Mornings’ when I go out each day’

‘I do agree that HE Barnes have worked to a high standard in the amount of time they have been at Manor House. They have been very polite and Friendly WELL-DONE LADS’.

Our Managing Director, Nigel Pollard, also accompanied the tenants of Manor House to a spot of lunch at The Peacock, the local pub next door!

We are pleased to show our recent completion of additional works for Galliford Try working on the Heart of the City Blocks B & C where our team was tasked with; supplying, installing, and testing the bench lighting throughout Blocks B & C.

We are proud to report that the feedback on the bench lighting has been overwhelmingly positive, noting that the final result looks even better than anticipated!

We are delighted to contribute further to a project that will significantly enhance the urban environment and public spaces.

We are overjoyed to share the incredible success of our 100th-anniversary charity ball at the Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria, Sheffield. The turnout was beyond our expectations, and the enthusiasm for fundraising activities throughout the night was truly heartwarming.

The Numbers Speak Louder: £34,500 Raised! We are thrilled to announce that the evening raised a staggering £34,500! This remarkable achievement is a testament to our commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

Supporting Sheffield's Youth with Sheffield Futures: The funds raised will be channeled into supporting counseling services for young people in Sheffield. This initiative aims to empower them to navigate life's challenges with resilience and support. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of the youth in our community.

It's wonderful to hear that the Young Advisors, Jess and Tilly, from Sheffield Futures had such a positive experience at the centennial ball! The blog title "A Night to Remember" suggests that the event left a lasting impression on them. It's heartening to know that they felt welcomed and found the centennial ball to be an amazing event. HE Barnes was contracted by Willmott Dixon to undertake the design and the installation of the Mechanical and the Electrical service within the Doncaster university Technical College. The building consisted of numerous teaching classrooms, dedicated engineering/robotics teaching spaces, science rooms, art and design rooms, IT rooms, dining hall and a multipurpose sports hall as well as a lecture theatre.

The M&E services which we installed were a gas fire heating system, gas fire domestic hot water services, classroom hybrid ventilation systems, general circulation ventilation systems, smoke ventilation systems, local extract systems, building management system, cat5 boosted cold water, boosted cold water system, organic lighting system with auto daylight dimming, Photovoltaic system, general power, data, access control, Fire alarm, cctv and security system.

The project was challenging due to the Pandemic and challenging programme constraint, but as a joint effort we handed over the project on time and within budget for the client.

PROJECT UPDATE: Feature Lighting is now complete at Barnsley Glassworks Phase 2.

H E Barnes are looking for a dynamic and experienced FM Administrator to join our established team. The successful candidate will be motivated and good at working under their own initiative and as apart of a wider group.

Job Description:

• Working closely with the Facilities Management Department, this role would assist and co-ordinate the administrative tasks required by managers to run successful Facilities Management contracts with our End User Clients.
• Use a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc., to produce correspondence and documents and to maintain presentations, records, spreadsheets and databases
• Produce Quotes, Purchase Orders and Invoices
• Collate, produce and distribute reports from results generated by Subcontractors and send them out to clients
• Experience of using/implementing a CAFM system like Job logic
• Scheduling and keeping up to date the PPM , periodic and inspection records
• Dispatching certificates and new O&M style booklets for stores and FM service users.
• Keeping site addresses and details up to date as they change.
• Assisting with some Labour resourcing issues such as holidays and looking who is where etc in the absence of other managers
• Liaise with staff in other departments and with external contacts;
• Order and maintaining stationery and equipment;
• Sort and distribute incoming post and organising and sending outgoing post;
• Arrange travel and accommodation for staff or customers and other external contacts;
• Organise and store paperwork, documents and computer-based information;
• photocopying and printing various documents, sometimes on behalf of other colleagues;
• Prepare documentation for internal process as per ISO Standards
• Liaise with our Health and Safety Forum and Human Resources Coordinator to engage with Learning and Development as necessary
• Any other duties which are required by the business and within the scope of the role

Personal Specification:

• A background in Facilities Management or Construction
• Qualifications or Business Skills that relate to their position
• Excellent Level of IT Literacy
• Some experience using Business Software such as JobLogic, accounting software, Coins etc.
• Application of their vocational experience to the benefit of the business
• Ability to use own initiative, working accurately with policies and procedures
• Prioritise workload and meet deadlines with attention to detail
• Written and Verbal communication skills
