Hampton on Stage

It’s time to dust off those dancing shoes and get your jazz hands ready as Hampton on Stage launches this years Hampton Pantomime!!!
Taking place at Fentham Hall this Christmas we’re pleased to bring you “The Wizard of Oz”.
We’re a very social bunch of creatives but our company needs more adults to help make the magic happen on stage!!

There are a number of roles in HOS that we need to fill to make this years pantomime an even bigger success than our last one in 2022!
* performers - over 18 to join our adult cast rehearsing Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7pm-10pm in the village.
* finance person - to keep records of all our incomings and outgoings. Does not need to attend rehearsals but would be most welcome.
* marketing person - help us promote our show and sell tickets.
Design leaflets and generally guide all our marketing.
* membership person- welcome our new members and come to all rehearsals and make tea/coffee in our breaks (and have a chat with everyone)
* set designer - someone to help plan and organise/make/ source the set.
* Props person - someone to help source props and organise them at rehearsals and the shows.
* backstage help - ideally we’re looking for someone with stage management experience who can organise our backstage team.

If you are interested in any of these roles please get in touch and pop along to our Wizard of Oz launch night at the Arden Room in Fentham Hall on Tuesday 11th June at 7pm. You’ll be able to meet current members of the group and find out more about the show.
There’ll be a sing along and a little read through for those interested in performing and we’ll go through the characters for the auditions. Don’t worry if you’re not interested in treading the boards you won’t be forced to join in.
We need our backstage members just as much as our on stage members and we’re really keen to hear from older members of the community who may be able to help.

The auditions will take place on Tuesday 25th June at the Arden Room from 7pm-10pm.

We’ll be auditioning the junior chorus later in the year.

It's National Pantomime Day! Oh yes, it is!

The festive season wouldn't be the same without a trip to the theatre to watch a Panto, would it?

So today, we wanted to share a few facts about Pantomime.

🎩The term pantomime comes from the Latin 'pantomimus'. It derives from two Greek elements, 'panto-' means 'all' and 'mimos' means solo dancer acting all story or all roles.

🎤The production of 'Beauty and the Beast' at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, ran for five hours in 1900.

🎭The first appearance of Aladdin as a pantomime was seen in 1788 on Boxing Day at Covent Garden.

Our one and only Gareth Thomas is taking to the stage in the coming weeks in the Hampton on Stage's production of 'Robin & the Sherwood Hoodies'.

This fabulous pantomime runs from the 14th to the 17th of December, each day a different local celebrity will play the role of King Richard, so head down and see some amazing performances... and Gareth (on the 17th) 😜
