3+2 and 2+1. Really hitting the redline !
Our up and comers increasing their number of laps, speed and skills utilising the middle of the ice and track - no ice time going unused!

What a great competition to enter! Last competition held featured lots of racing for skaters - it’s 1h45m or so from Solihull and rumour is there is a services on the way home selling KFC! 😀

Merry Christmas everyone!
Thank you to everyone who could attend, Mohawks and visiting friend’s!
Super hard session today as everyone dialled up intensity, crossover finish position hold, inside track drills, 6,4,2 then 3,3,3 and starts - all within 60mins!
Group 3, our junior D,E,F’s increasing their laps and skills today, making great progress!
Well done all! Enjoy a bit of rest, you deserve it, refuel and energise - see you all again next weekend on the ice 6.15pm Saturday!

British Championships Announcement link below, 6th and 7th January in Nottingham. You will need to enter via the BIS platform - Sport80, link in the comments.

The skater must have taken and passed at least an Inter Bronze medal test time in their particular
category in an authorised test session, OR achieved the Inter Bronze medal time in an authorised

competition (A competition that is listed on our fixture list or an international fixture list). Masters
are excluded from having to achieve the time.

The standards are a great way for skaters to track their progress!

Edges, edges and more edges!
We nearly always have the slalom up.

The younger group enjoy setting it up and the older skaters are also encouraged to refine their edge control and connection and pressure to the ice.

Variations are;
Feet together, leading edge, wide Z carve, 1 leg, backwards etc but the main thing is to have fun doing it and make challenges for yourself!

A great way to get to your outside right edge in the straight, get more glide and a controlled lean in/turn in to the corner on the track !

Good news that the Speed / Short Track coaching levels are now updated on the BIS site.

It includes a safety steward level which is a great foundation and we have been told by BIS it allows that person to “run” a safe session.

Thanks to Pete, Mandy, Billy who have done a lot of work behind the scenes to align Short Track requirements with the other coaching standards at BIS!
