Chris Taylor, Funeral Celebrant

I will be there every step of the way to guide you gently through the process. I am proud to be an Independent Funeral Celebrant.

Delivering uplifting, colourful and positive funeral services with a smile: celebrating a life, while sharing a message of hope and joy for those dealing with their loss. Of course, this is not a subject that you would want to be considering or dealing with, but I am grateful that you have taken the time to look. It is important to find a glimmer of light in the darkness by painting a colourful pi

Ken was certainly one of life’s grafters. He owned a shop that sold anything and everything that the local residents needed. There was always a friendly atmosphere and he would treat everyone with the same warm welcome; often putting the kettle on and passing the time of day with those who dropped in. He would even introduce people to each other, so nobody felt left out. He always did right by members of his community, and when they were short, he’d give credit; or even write it off as a good deed.

He was regularly in The Echo, running charity events for the benefit of others. In his spare time, he would load up a trolley with toiletries, sweets and magazines to take round the Maternity Hospital: his main intention just to brighten people’s day. When he got home after a long day (which usually started at 5am), he still made time to read a story to his boys - although it was sometimes touch-and-go as to who would fall asleep first!

Ken truly had a heart of gold. He has shut up shop for the last time; ready to settle down in his favourite comfy chair for a well-earned snooze, satisfied in a job well done: as a husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

I was privileged to have known Doreen and her lovely husband, Mike, for many years. Whilst it was difficult speaking in the past tense about this singular English Rose, the love in the room was palpable.
Doreen displayed incredible beauty, both outwardly and within: seemingly ageless and always looking her best. In her earlier days, she was a model and won many beauty pageants. She always had a sunny and serene disposition, regardless of the situation; and could light up a room just by walking in. She was a bit of a tinker too. At a fancy dress do in Dinan, France, she approached a guy dressed as a Bishop and said, “Bless me, Father, for I am about to sin!”
She is now in her own sunlit part of heaven: settling down in a garden chair, in a floppy sunhat, with a Gordons and Tonic in her hand (in a tall glass, with ice and a slice - not forgetting the stirrer!), while Neil Diamond serenades her through the balmy air x

Tom departed this life all too soon.

It was a pleasure and honour to have heard his family speak about this kind man who loved animals and this wonderful planet we call Earth. His service was poignant, occasionally funny, and attended by over 130 people who knew and loved him.

I can only hope that the colour he brought into their lives will give them some strength to honour his memory and continue to share the love that he gave them.

Ronnie was a card!

It was a delight to meet with his lovely family and to hear their stories of this colourful man. It was an honour to have delivered his service and to see faces light up as I recounted stories of his active and eventful life. He will be sorely missed but always remembered with a smile.

I am sure he will now be dancing with his Scottish Lass among the stars x

Harald was a giant of a man: in size, personality and his capacity to share love and happiness. He was a proud Norwegian, a visionary and an inspiration to all he met. True to his professional philosophy, he had a full and happy personal life: enjoying the love of his wife, family and the company of his friends.

Members of his family spoke with passion and warmth – in English and Norwegian – of his vibrant life and the positive effect he had on others.

We would like to think that he is now heading out to enjoy one more fishing trip in the warmth of the sun.
