Pace Counselling
As a qualified person-centred counsellor, I'm here to walk with you on your road from hurt to healing
I’m currently away, but will be back in Southport on Monday. I would like to offer free counselling support to anyone affected by the tragedy today.
What a tremendous way to connect with young children and begin conversations 🥹
I love this quote from Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, teacher, author, poet and peace activist. How much better would it be if we could consider the conditions or circumstances before casting judgement and blame? What's the root cause? What conditions can we change?
I know your storm feels like it will last a lifetime. It won’t. I know it feels like it won’t get easier. It will. I don’t know when, but it will. In the meantime, speak to someone you trust and lighten that load that’s too heavy to carry on your own.
My daughter inspired this one. She’s a perfectionist and while I think she’s amazing, she never feels good enough or that she’s done enough. Perfectionism creates a negative loop in our brain that will only breed more insecurity. None of us are perfect. Let’s strive for progress instead. It’s attainable for everyone, it’s measurable and it’s satisfying to our brains!
Thank you to the talented Bella Ammie for helping me put the gentle, finishing touch on my therapy room. My maiden name, Pace, hails from Ferentino, Italy and means peace. It’s such a perfect encapsulation of my therapeutic intentions. 🫶🏻
This evening offers a safe and special time to remember our loved ones in a service of hope and light. As one of the speakers, I want to encourage you, if you're grieving today, please feel welcome to come to this space tonight. 🫶
Empathy is a popular word these days. The best demonstration of empathy is engaged listening, acknowledging the pain and not saying things like, “well, at least…”; saying at least can feel dismissive and unhelpful.
Before you blink and you’re halfway to Christmas, soak in some of the wellness tips I’ve pulled together 💚
One of the things I enjoy doing is creating affirmation posts/graphics and sharing them on my business page. Last year I took on a big fundraising challenge that petrified me, so I began proclaiming, “My fight (for the cause) is bigger than my fear.” It really helped me. Then as I began my latest Slimming World journey five months ago, I began telling myself, “my fight (to lose weight) is bigger than my fancy (whatever temporary craving I was having.) So for us slimmers, I’ve created this graphic. I hope it reminds you how hard you’re fighting and to keep going - pushing through your temporary fancies! ❤️
It’s been a four-year journey, but I got there in the end! It’s amazing how one piece of paper can help you realise your dreams and uncover your potential. I’m so thankful to be able to start my own counselling practice and look forward to walking along many therapeutic journeys. 💚
Sometimes when we’re down, we can question our purpose in life. Please know this - as long as you have a beat in your heart, your life has purpose. Close your eyes and feel your heart. You were created for a purpose 💚.
Does the road ahead look too long? Does your stairway look too steep? Does your tunnel appear endless? Just breathe and take one step at a time...
I was diagnosed with depression when I was 20 years old and I’ve been battling it ever since. When I’m in my depressive state, I liken it to being in a tunnel. My saving grace is reminding myself that just as the tunnel has an entrance, it also has an exit. If I take one baby step after another, eventually I’ll come out of it. It took me years to picture myself in a tunnel instead of a deep hole that I couldn’t climb out. As a Christian, I also take strength knowing I’m never in my tunnel alone, but I understand that’s not everyone. But please know this - you absolutely can come out the other side of your tunnel 💚. Yours truly x
When someone we love or care for is hurting, how often do we avoid reaching out because we don't know what to say? The truth is, we won't have healing words. The good news is, they don't need our healing words; they only need to know we see their pain and we're there. 💗
I’ve always spoken these words to my daughters, especially when they’ve been told “practice makes perfect.” Perfection is simply unattainable and we can always improve. Practicing perfection will only reap unnecessary pressure and let’s face it - we all have enough pressures in our daily lives. Pride is a much more accepted and deserved result of practice.
