Had a good couple of days painting these. Demos from a John Lidzey book. Progress on tones 😁
Finishing my bird series (I've still got a sparrow I've done but we all know what they look like, this was different!). This was an exercise in class and I really enjoyed the outcome. There was a lot of masking and then pouring but a good experiment. Wasn't sure in the early stages but when I'd finished it I was very pleased with it.
Dancing cranes.
It's still flooded up here in Lincolnshire; it's so nice living near water! There's even talk of flooding it intentionally in future, not sure what the farmers will think of that.
Sunset over the flooded wash.

Blue tit. The bird phase continues. Satisfying outcomes from these little chirpers. More to come 😊
A new phase, birds. They are a joy to paint with all the usual water colour challenges but love the outcome. I started with a beautiful colourful parrot.
Second take on the flooded wash, this time in pure watercolours plus second photo is of a lad skating on the frozen fields further on in the village. Very lucky to see this as people who have lived here for 40+ years have never seen it.
Tulips, don't you just love them.
Flooded fields on Cowbit Wash.
With it getting colder these next few weeks if it freezes be interesting to see if anyone skates on it like they used to.
A seasonal one.

Autumn.
Alright it's winter but this was how this one turned out today.
Memories from St Tropez and my attempts to reproduce it.

Watercolour from recent holiday in South of France.
Mixed media of Garden of Surprises, Burghley House.
A second try at the hollyhocks, different colours, slightly different approach.
Beautiful sunflowers. What happy flowers they are sitting in my favourite jug.
It's no Ann Blockley (inspiration for it) but I'm very pleased with this. Started last week and finished today. Perhaps that's the way for me: don't rush it all in an hour but return after a break to finish.
Love a good bridge. A special pressie for a special person.
Fading daffodils.
The last of those wonderful sunny spring flowers.
Rainbow over the daffodil fields.
As threatened the other week a still life picture. Not easy at all but it was good for me ie the discipline and general slow painting technique. I'm quite a quick painter so this was a challenge - enjoyed it though as it was different.
Latest efforts. Still life time. Glass, bottle and jar next time 😂
Bit of wet on wet, then sponging to get the sky a little softer. Amazing how different the colours come out when dry. An ok piece. I frame everything as you can see!
All good practice.
Watercolour practice. Enjoyed this one and pleased with the outcome.
Welsh cottage a la John Blockley.
Cityscape.
San Francisco in watercolour and pen. Not done many buildings but inspired to add something colourful to the bedroom.
Impressionist trees on canvas.
Painted over something I'd done a few weeks ago that I wasn't happy with and it made the surface so much easier to paint on.
A little bit of autumnal still life
Sunset.
This one I'm pleased with.
Started with wet on wet and for once it went to plan, you never know the outcome really - well at the moment I still don't!
All good practice though 💕
Stormy fields.
Semi pleased
Not quite Your House in Clay but Our House in Clay. Been meaning to do this for a while - very proud of our renovation.
