JMC Coaching and Consultancy Ltd
Workplace mediation, corporate/private career coaching and leadership development sessions
I am super rubbish for posting on here…but, what has made you smile lately?
This did it for me, simply lovely to be given this on our last session together 🥰
Action for happiness are a movement of people taking action to create a happier and kinder world, together…and I really rather like that and want to be part of sharing that joy!
Here’s to a joyful June for us all 😊
We’ve been super quiet on here …but I promise you we’ve been working hard! So here is our endof month stock take!
This month, we have;
👉 Coached 8 individual leaders from 6 different organisations
👉 Held a team coaching day with a newly formed executive team
👉 Facilitated 5 leadership development conversation sessions to a senior leadership team. We looked at coaching as a manager, reflection in leadership and creating a safe and supportive accountability culture...amongst other stuff!
👉 Worked with an assessment organisation to help enhance their material for the coaching professional apprenticeship standard
👉 Held 2 workplace mediations for long standing disputes. One impacting on a number of team members and the other involving two team colleagues
👉 Supported a member of the The Institute of Leadership in a pro brono mentoring session in my role as Fellow of the IoL
👉 Helped a newly qualified coach navigate her thinking working through her next steps for accreditation and continuing professional development in her coaching journey
👉 And…begun working with a primary school to introduce a peer mediation scheme for the next academic year!
Phew.... 😳
What a week! Janine has spent most of this week working with this amazing bunch of folk getting qualified to role out mediation training to children in schools! Peer mediation schemes have been shown to have such positive impact on everyone in the school community and how exciting to be able to train young people to help their peers in their relationships with each other!
Super excited to get this started…watch this space!
I can’t live a lie anymore.
Everyday I support others to be true to themselves, have the confidence to be their authentic self, show up as they are and to not let the expectations of others (and often themselves) limit or constrain them. So today I’m being true to myself and I’m saying it out loud…
I really dont like pancakes. 🥞😉
Aww what a lovely way to end the week when you pop up in the newsletter from Staffordshire County Council!
🎉 🎉 Thank you all for a fun packed and amazing 2023 and hello 2024! 🎉🎉
Here’s to a year of health, peace, growth, opportunity, prosperity, joy and happiness to you all!
Happy New Year!
🎄 🎅 HAPPY CHRISTMAS!! 🎅🎄
As my out of office goes on for the end of 2023, I wanted to pause and take a
moment to reflect and say a massive thank you!
Thank you to everyone for the recommendations, referrals and for asking me to work with you and/or your teams over the past year. From leadership development sessions, individual coaching, team coaching or workplace mediation, simply being trusted to support you all and witness first hand the transformation and achievements you have made, makes me feel incredibly privileged to do what I do!
For now it’s time for some festive family fun (pic for entertainment value!), some long overdue down time and recharging over the next couple of weeks ready for what looks already to be an exciting 2024!
🍀 I’m so lucky 🍀
I get to meet and support some amazing folk and work in some pretty stunning places to boot.
This week our beautiful location was overlooking lake Windermere with oodles of sheep for company - they’re pretty impressive listeners!
Such a tranquil space for deep thought, connection, reflection and commitments in readiness for an amazing and productive 2024!
When a workplace mediation starts with two colleagues not wanting to be in the same room as each other and ends with one getting a round of cakes in and a handshake…
I get to work in some amazing locations! Down on the north Devon coast for the next few days supporting a business here get a team working constructively together through workplace mediation. 😊
Just leaving this here today as a reminder for anyone who needs to hear it, you are unique, amazing and more than enough.
In the chaos of the world, we all sometimes need a reminder to slow down, listen to the trees and breathe…
She sat at the back and they said she was
shy
She led from the front and they hated her
pride
They asked her advice and then questioned her guidance
They branded her loud then were shocked by her silence
When she shared no ambition, they said it was sad
So she told them her dreams and they said she was mad
They told her they'd listen then covered their ears
And gave her a hug whilst they laughed at her fears
And she listened to all of it, thinking she
should
Be the girl they told her to be, best as she
could
But one day she asked what was best for
herself
Instead of trying to please everyone
else
So she walked to the forest and stood with the trees
She heard the wind whisper and dance with the leaves
And she spoke to the willow, the elm and the pine
And she told them what she'd been told, time after time
She told them she felt she was never enough
She was either too little or far, far too much
Too loud or too quiet, too fierce or too weak
Too wise or too foolish, too bold or too meek
Then she found a small clearing, surrounded by firs
And she stopped and she heard what the trees said to her
And she sat there for hours not wanting to
leave
For the forest said nothing, it just let her
breathe

Who doesn’t love a bit of CPD?!
Yesterday Janine, our Director, received her ILM certificate for successfully completing her coaching supervision training … and she did a wee happy dance! Woo hoo 🎉🎉
Happy Tuesday folks!
"I cant quite believe it had got so bad but we just couldn't talk to each other. Janine got us talking again though and we're now more open and honest with each other rather than letting things build up like before. Things are so much better at work now, I used to dread being in the office together and now we can actually have a laugh again"
This week has been all workplace mediations and checking in on two separate cases I mediated a few months back. Seeing the positive steps taken by all of the parties involved and the impact that this has had on them and the wider teams is why I do what I do!
Reaching the end of a coaching journey often brings up a range of emotions in me and taking time to reflect always helps. As part of that process and to help my continued learning, I will always ask for feedback from clients. When I received this yesterday I had a very sudden bout of hay fever 😉…
“My experience of coaching has been unexpectedly positive. With Janine’s support over 6 sessions I moved from effective but slightly resentful, disengaged and uncertain, to a much more confident position in which I recognise my value and have practical steps identified to progress my work life. Through some form of alchemy Janine achieves an elusive balance of fun, challenge, focus and pragmatic support; on that basis alone I would recommend working with her. However, Janine offers something extra too; practical insight from personal experiences of working in the public sector, which most people would recognise to be at times a strange and surprising place for leaders.”
So today, Janine our Managing Director, was confirmed as a fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management.
Super exciting and a recognition both of formal learning in all things leadership and management and extensive practical experience in the field.
Janine offers leadership and executive coaching alongside management and leadership development training too. Get in touch to discuss any support you, your team or organisation need and we will be happy to work with you to create a bespoke solution to suit.
In one of our recent leadership sessions we shared the lollipop story with the group. For those of you who haven’t seen it, I’ll pop a link below. It’s only 6 mins and well worth a watch.
In short lollipop leadership talks about the impact we all have on others through what we say or do and often without realising the impact for the other person.
Last week too I received a message on here from an old colleague who I’ve not seen or spoken to for a good few years. They just messaged asking how I was and wanted to tell me they missed working with me. They went on to say other lovely things but I won’t be that self indulgent to share with you all!!
That message stopped me in my tracks. We never worked super closely with one another, yet they felt the need several years later to highlight the impact I have had on them, their career and their aspirations. Several days on and I’m still smiling. I had no idea of the impact I had had on them until they were kind enough to share their lollipop moment.
So, here’s my challenge…
Today or tomorrow let that person who gave you your lollipop moment know. Remind them what they did. Tell them the impact they had on you and why. They may have impacted you unknowingly at that time but your message to them will impact them too…trust me!!
Oh…and here’s that link;

Yesterday was all about leadership development and today is all about coaching.
A coaching client first thing and I’m excited to hear about their progress starting a new position at work and an observed coaching assessment for a potential new coach this afternoon.
The sun is also shining welcoming in the start of spring…new beginnings in nature and new beginnings in peoples careers.
I bloody love my job!! Doing workplace mediations is so satisfying all round! Today I had the pleasure to catch up with a participant from a workplace mediation I facilitated back in October last year. I’ll let her words do the talking;
‘When I met Janine I was about to put in a grievance in against my manager as I couldn’t see any other way forward. I had had time off sick, the stress was making me so ill…Janine made me feel safe and listened to for the first time in a long time. ….Our [working] relationship is not perfect but we can now work together and we know how to talk to each other in a much better way and I’m enjoying being back at work again.’
Today was the last session in a coaching programme for another amazing coachee. We’ve been on a journey of increased understanding of self, clarity and focus in a challenging workplace and exploring things within our control and the small steps to make a big difference.
There’s a range of benefits coaching can offer and no end to the reasons you might want to work with one. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) Global Consumer Awareness Survey in 2017 reported positive impacts from coaching including:
* Improved communication skills
* Improved self confidence/self esteem
* Increased productivity
* Optimised individual and/or team performance
* Improved business management strategies
* Expanded professional career opportunities
If you feel you or a member of your team could benefit from coaching, feel free to drop me a message or email and we can have an initial, no commitment chat see if it is the right option for you.
But for now, I’ll leave you with a lovely pic of the spring flowers my coachee gave me to say Thank you!
I’ve had a super busy month with lots of coaching, leadership development training, assessing new coaches and mediating that my brain and my body are soooo tired!
So, before my battery runs too low and I’m in no fit state to help and support anyone, I’m taking a short break in one of my most favourite places.
Listening and taking regular time out to recharge in whatever way works for you is so important for coaches, mentors, trainers and the very leaders we work with. Being your best for others, means being your best for yourself too. I don’t mind admitting that its taken me a good while to find this out myself but for now I’m going to enjoy one more cocktail, some more good food and shop ’til I drop!
Today is international women’s day and I’m really looking forward to taking the time to reflect, celebrate and appreciate all the amazing women I’ve been fortunate to have met, particularly over the last year supporting me and my business. Encouragement, wisdom, belief, loyalty and trust are just a few of the words that spring to mind. From supporting me through the lows and cheerleading through the highs, and for putting work my way and having faith that I was the right person to help them and their business; they’ve been awesome!
Today I get to celebrate it with some of those women that were there at the very beginning and I may have just done a little happy dance!
Happy international women’s day you amazing lot!
Happy New Year to you all!
As the New Year approaches and there are 12 new chapters to write…what will be your story of 2023? How do you decide the content and shape the plot?
Sometimes we all need a guide to help us think, plan, act and write our own story.
Will 2023 be the year you invest in your own guide to support you achieving whatever your goal and aim of your story is?
Let me introduce you to my very own version of the 12 days of Christmas.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please be in fine voice to sing; 12 months of business!
One year in business and my network has sent to me…
12 months of variety
11 new opportunities
10 sparkling corporate contracts
9 private clients
8 conflicts worked through
7 leadership teams developed
6 new coaches assessed
5 employment tribunals avoided
4 reflections written
3 new year opportunities
2 new teams of colleagues
And a new puppy to add to the clan!
** Please note, in the interests of artistic interpretation the numbers lost their accuracy!
Seriously, as this, my first year as JMC Coaching and consultancy Ltd draws to an end I just wanted to say a massive thank you to each and everyone of you. Sharing my business with your networks, referring work my way and supporting me has never been more important and I’m truly grateful to each and everyone of you who has done this this past year!
Wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas and New Year. Here’s to all the excitement of 2023!
Whilst December is a month filled with joy and happiness for many, for some it can be the most challenging of times. Research has proven that being kind to others has lots of benefits for the person doing the kind deed too, so it really is a win-win situation and who doesn’t love one of those …
What are you waiting for?
Get involved and start sowing and receiving all those happiness hormones 😊
Woo hoo, I have just opened an email notifying me that I have successfully passed the ILM Psychological Development Coaching Programme.
My style of coaching has always been an amalgamation of approaches utilising a range of tools, techniques and interventions to best suit whatever my coachee brings to the session...and now it seems I have more to add to the toolkit and more to offer!
Today I’ve had three separate and all very different but equally exciting conversations about collaborations and work opportunities for the forthcoming months. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to you lovely folk in my network for thinking of me, recommending me for leadership coaching or workplace mediation and/or for reaching out directly so I can support you and your contacts. Feeling the love today! 💕
What a way to start the weekend!
Super chuffed to have been nominated for an award at the National Mediation Awards 2022.
Helping people in the workplace get their relationships back on track preventing all that anxiety, stress, conflict and division is why I do what I do…but getting nominated for it is the icing on the cake!
Woo hoo!!
Today is world mental health day. In business taking care of yourself and your team can help create a positive AND productive team!
Mind research showed that;
* More than one in five (21%) agreed staff members had called in sick to avoid work when asked how workplace stress had affected them.
* 14% agreed that they had resigned and 42% had considered resigning when asked how workplace stress had affected them.
* 30% of staff disagreed with the statement 'I would feel able to talk openly with my line manager if I was feeling stressed'.
* 56% of employers said they would like to do more to improve staff wellbeing but don't feel they have the right training or guidance.
Being caring and being a manager are not mutually exclusive skills and starting a conversation about mental health and well-being does not have to be difficult. Drop me a DM if I can help you and your leaders enhance your skills to help with authentic, caring and meaningful well-being conversations in the workplace.
