As an Exercise Referral specialist, I am able to work with clients with a spectrum for medical conditions. From Diabetes and Obesity to High Blood Pressure/high Cholesterol and Joint replacement. Following a full health assessment, we create a clear plan for exercise and lifestyle changes to suit your goals. A great upper body workout today with a client who has several health conditions including arthritis of the knees. Most of the workout was sitting to relieve pressure on the knees, although we did plenty of gentle joint mobilisation though a gentle warm up. The focus was on developing muscular strength and joint stability. Plenty of reps with lighter weights. This will help the client become stronger for everyday activities. We even managed 10 minutes on the cycle at the end which is a great low impact activity and helps keep the joints mobile.😀
15 mins 9 seconds of exercise is all it takes to boost your mood!
According to latest research from Asics as published in stylist.co.uk, you only have to do 15 minutes of exercise to get the mental benefit of exercise. The research, called the Asics State of Mind Index scored the mental wellbeing of 37,000 people and found that 15mins 9 secs was the shortest time needed to boost mood. But what does this mean?
* 15 mins walking ( park the car further away from your usual spot )
* 15 mins You Tube video of activity in your living room.
* Marching on the spot for half of your favourite half hour show.
* Set your playlist to play 4 songs and commit to doing 1 minute of 3 different exercises during each song ( repeat each circuit during each song )
* Set your playlist to 4 songs and head out round the block.
Give it a go. Remember it's only 15 mins and 9 seconds of your day.
