LOOK: New benches installed by council along Colwyn Bay Pier The colours used on the ironwork are taken from the results of a paint analysis that dated the colour scheme back to 1934.

Victorian shops restored to former glory

Two Victorian shop fronts on Alexandra Road in Cleethorpes have been restored to their former glory in recent restoration works.

The shop front and façade of the building has been completely renewed at properties 21 and 22 Alexandra Road, next to the Baptist Church.

Two years ago Calibre Metalworks preparing the balustrade for replacement on the Pier.

The latest part of a continuous 4yr contract for a private client on the south coast. A curved balustrade to a new circular dwarf wall to match an existing Victorian design.
We have completed two full canopy restorations, the restoration of a huge wrought and cast iron balcony balustrade too. We love working with historic properties !!

Hotel Indigo Iron Gates, Manchester. These had been heavily modified in the past with a pedestrian "wicket" gate being added in steel. We removed it, and inserted matching wrought iron leaving no trace of the poor modifications.
The gates were restored and reinstated in their original positions near Victoria Station, Manchester.

Replacement of 260 metres of rooftop balustrades to this wonderful grade 2 former hospital in Sheffield.

Shrub Hill Station from 2014. The Midlands answer to The Leaning Tower of Pizza !
The platform 2B waiting room of Worcester Shrub Hill is Grade II* listed and reopened in 2015 after a ten-year refurbishment project.

Calibre Metalwork on Twitter “For we return to 2014 and Shrub Hill Station. We cast and carefully shaped replica ironwork to replace pieces that had spalled off due to subsidence in the r/h building. Much of the building is cast iron with a fascinating history. Well worth a visit !”

Sometimes only genuine UK made cast iron balusters will do.
Especially when they are traditionally lead caulked into new stone coping stones.

Its a chilly morning on the Isle of Wight !
Missing cast balusters replicated, forged iron handrails. All installed on a reconstructed set f stone steps.
