Love this!
It’s ok to feel your emotions, whatever they may be! 🤍
Received some lovely gifts and a beautifully written thank you card today off one of my lovely clients. It is extremely heartwarming to be thought of and valued by them.
I feel so grateful that i get to work with so many amazing people everyday. 🤍
When we are feeling exhausted, fed up, hurt and at breaking point - to name a few.
Remember.. what you’re going through now it’s building you up.
Every challenge we face is an opportunity for growth. 🤍
It’s ok to rest when things get stormy, remember feelings are temporary and every experience is an opportunity for growth.
Trust the process 🤍
Have love for yourself, push aside negativity and trust the process. 🤍
Have a lovely day and I hope it is filled with positivity and productivity. 🤍
Carrying baggage is heavy and you really don’t need to carry all of that weight.
Talking to a counsellor can really help to reduce the weight you carry and help it to feel more manageable.
Less baggage = less weight = feeling lighter! 🤍
Managed to get some CPD in today between private client sessions.
- An attachment aware and trauma informed perspective on resilience: hearing and healing the ripples.
- Working creatively with dissociation.
🤍
Friendly Reminder - You don’t have to be doing what everybody else is doing.
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in what you aren’t doing, because you can see progress in other people.
It’s so easy to forget how far you have come to get to the place you are in right now.
It’s so easy to disregard your own personal journey of growth, because of what point others are at.
But…… Is the place where you are, just where you’re meant to be?
Everybody’s journey is different and where somebody is now, doesn’t mean you need to be there to. 🤍
Life comes with many stressors that we go through each day - personal stressors, daily stressors and even stressors that society brings us.
Sometimes we can feel like we should be positive all of the time, but naturally that is not going to happen. We’re human!
Having a mixture is perfectly “normal” and taking the pressure off yourself to be positive can help you find that balance.
Recognising your natural feelings and how you manage them is what is important. 🤍
When was the last time you had a Mental Health check in?
We do it so much more easily for our physical health, but our Mental Health is as equally as important; so why should that be different?
🤍
Had such a busy but great week of client sessions, both in school and here in my private practice.
Had a lovely card today off another amazing client that has written such a beautiful message inside. So thoughtful, kind and really appreciated.
Signing off for the weekend as it’s mine and Phils engagement party!! So any messages I will respond to after the weekend.
Have a great weekend!
With love, Gemma 🤍
Note to self 🤍
- Do you check in on your battery?
- Do you check in on your mood throughout the day?
- Do you do anything during your day to keep your battery powered up?
If not, take a second to check in on yourself. If you feel your battery is running low think about what you can do to power it up again.
Self care, setting boundaries and being kind to yourself are just so important and actually essential when this happens.
Remember to power your battery! 🤍
We are all human!
Even counsellors get anxiety around work & life in general.
These are definitely some of the anxieties I struggle with, but using my own coping strategies help me to continue to support the most wonderful clients every single day! 🤍
Anxiety as a Therapist
It’s normal to replay sessions over in your head, wonder if you said the right thing or are really helping.
You are human, care about what you do and invested in your clients healing.
Give yourself a break, you won’t always get it right and have all the answers. It doesn’t make you a bad therapist.
This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week 13th - 19th May 2024!
The Mental Health Foundation has set this years theme as “Movement: Moving for our mental health”. Movement and exercise has been proven to help boost your energy levels, reduce anxiety and stress and also help with your self esteem and confidence.
I have challenged myself this week to double my usual step count and get myself moving as much as possible to help boost my Mental Health.
Can you get moving for your mental health this week? 🤍
Feeling really lucky that I got to see the most stunning Aurora Borealis - Northern Lights this evening here in the UK from the solar storm.
Nature is just so beautiful 🤍
Let’s normalise that we don’t have to be positive all the time. We are human! 🤍
Monday may not be your favourite day of the week, but… changing your mindset can help to bring new opportunities and even new beginnings.
Have a wonderful week ahead and enjoy your Monday! 🤍
Putting some of my own self care today in between client sessions and getting some steps in why the sun is shining here.
Already feel better for it!
I hope everybody is having a lovely day and I hope you get to put some self care in, because YOU deserve to. 🤍
Struggling with anxiety can be uncomfortable and can often prevent you from doing things you want to.
Having a tool box full of tips and tricks can really help if you. It is important to get to know and learn what can work for you for prevention and if anxiety kicks in.
Here are a few below to get you started. 🤍
Focus on the things you can control instead of worrying about the things you can’t control. 🤍
Self Care Sunday!
Self care is just so important for every single one of us to help our body battery to feel refreshed and recharged.
Self care isn’t just about doing things like:
- exercising
- journalling
- personal hygiene
- doing a hobby
- sleeping & resting
- therapy
It can also mean some of the things I have listed below.
Have a lovely Sunday & I hope you are able to enjoy some self care today, because you deserve to! 🤍
Had a lovely delivery today with lots of useful and productive resources from Sibling Support for my young clients who are struggling with loss of their sibling.
Really excited to go through the resources and use and explore them with my clients. 🤍
Be kind to yourself, you are doing the best you can! 🤍
Believe in YOU! 🤍
So I have some news… today this happened!
Me and Phil have got engaged!!
Happiest girl in the world 🤍
We naturally celebrate all of the “typical” successions that happen to people in their life, but we should also be congratulating other successions.
The small wins are often the hardest to fulfil, but they should be the ones you are celebrating more so.
Getting out of bed in a morning, going for a walk or even completing a to do list are all personal achievements.
Recognising these wins can have a positive impact on how we feel. 🤍
Let’s recognise Anxiety..
Anxiety can show in many different ways and below are just a few signs and symptoms of how Anxiety can present.
Anxiety does not have to control you, if we make necessary changes we can learn to have a healthy relationship with it. 🤍
We can often feel anxious about starting a new week on a Sunday and that feeling of Monday dread can often kick in.
However, rather than worry about what could happen this week, think about what you can do with your week to enjoy it and feel fulfiled instead.
Take control, reframe your thoughts and have a week of content. 🤍
