Welcome to my art page. My name is Lauren Bird and I’m also known as laurenbird.art on Instagram.
Freddie’s finished portrait 🥰
Freddie was well known for his pricked up ears, splodge on his nose and his floppy tongue 👅
I had to improvise with his ears as the original photo I was given didn’t feature the correct positioning. Thankfully I had another photo to reference to which helped me piece them both together ☺️
Back at it with this beautiful portrait of Freddie.
Unfortunately my friend lost him at the beginning of February so I wanted to make sure I captured every special feature of him 🩵
Since I started my business my waiting list has been a constant flow of drawing after drawing but over the last couple of months it’s slowly come to a halt.
Admittedly I have been enjoying my break away as I’m aware I can run myself to the ground with stress. I find it very hard finding a work/life balance and when I do have time to myself I stress and feel guilty that I’m not drawing.
I feel positive about the year ahead and I’m hoping to start building up my portfolio. I’ve already got some interesting ideas brewing.
With that said, this is the first piece of my puzzle - Mabel. I started her drawing around August time and only just finished her portrait today. Probably the longest amount of time I’ve ever spent on one portrait even though it’s also one of the smallest 😅
I hope you like it!
Last but not least of the year was this awesome foursome!
Starting from the top left we have Tillie, Bertie, Diesel and Cole. The quality of the images weren’t the best for reference so I tried my best to capture their personalities with what I had ☺️
Now this one I’ve kept quiet since August! AUGUST!! I’ve had to put it to the back of my mind until it was gifted over Christmas and here it finally is ☺️
Portrait of Bonnie and Bella 🩷
Trying to catch up on my social media posts this month! Seems like I’ve relaxed far too much over the Christmas period 😆
This is Rusty! I was excited the moment I saw the photo I was going to use to draw his portrait 🥰
Now here’s one I’ve never had before. Always love taking on new challenges and these two were no exception 🫏💕🫏
Bella and Mike’s portrait was gifted a couple of weeks ago and I’m so pleased I’m able to now share this with you 🥰
I’m aware my feed has been non existent these last few months so now I’ve finally completed all of my commissions this year I thought I’d start sharing the art I’ve been working on ☺️
This is Alfie and this is the second portrait I’ve drawn for his lovely owner. I drew his late brother Jazz earlier in the year.
Ending the week with this memorial portrait of Bob 🩵
I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of years ago and I always remember how he was the biggest spaniel I think I’d ever seen! He crushed my feet when he sat on them but I didn’t mind so much, as long as he was comfortable 🥰
I love saving the eyes until last. It brings a piece to life once they’re done 🥰
Starting this weekend by sharing the start of Bob’s portrait. This was my second time drawing Bob and I loved it just as much as the first time 🥰
It’s my 3rd Business Birthday!
I’m sure you’re all aware that I’ve been very quiet on my social media recently and I’m still trying to find that work life balance with having a new puppy. Getting anything done in my day literally feels like I’m climbing Everest and I’ll never reach the peak.
I do have some interesting things planned for next year which will be revealed in due course but I may need some willing participants.
For now, thank you to all of my followers and I look forward to sharing another year with you 🩵
Feels good to finally be sharing this finished portrait of Betsy 🥰
Feels good to be sharing this finished portrait of Betsy 🥰
Well it feels like a lifetime since I shared a pet portrait.
So let’s start off with this memorial portrait I drew of Betsy. She had very challenging colours and I made sure I savoured every inch of her portrait as I loved recreating those beautiful fine hairs.
Well that’s another wrap for bookings this year.
Thank you to everyone who has kept me busy this year with all of your wonderful pet portraits. I’ve loved each and every one of them 🥰
I may or may not have space for the odd couple of portraits in December but only time will tell.
I will keep you all updated.
Well hello to everyone who is still tuned in!
It’s been a while since my last post as I decided to take a social media break. As you can see, I got a puppy (named Ghibli) so my time has been spent meticulously preparing for his arrival.
Only had him for 3 days and he’s already wearing us out 😂
I will be posting some new pieces I’ve worked on over the last couple of months so stay tuned ☺️
I’m getting a puppy! 🐾🐶
It’s been a long time coming and I can bet my work colleagues and family members are all relieved to know they’ve heard the end of my tireless complaining.
Stay tuned for pupdates!
P.S. Art wise, I am still working hard behind the scenes, I’m just unable to post due to secrecy 🤫
I am however starting to build up my portfolio so you may see some smaller pieces I’ve chosen to draw for myself. Look forward to revealing all! 😁
Happy International Dog Day! 🐶
I would have posted earlier but my day has been non stop. Better late than never 😁
As I sit enjoying a glass of wine on the sofa, I thought it would be insightful for people to know exactly what their money buys.
After all, it’s not just a pretty picture.
A lot of preparation goes into creating just one portrait no matter how big or small it may be.
Repost**
Since I’m working on some top secret commissions I thought I’d take you back to Chewie’s wonderful portrait which I completed back in January 2022!
I remember falling in love with this photo. I just had to draw it!

Daisy
Very proud to share the hard work put into Daisy’s portrait.
Won’t be long until this portrait is in its new home in Australia 😁🇦🇺🌏
Daisy
Another comparison of unfinished to finished 🤗
Also check out that little wonky tooth! 🤓
Daisy
The last couple of weeks have been spent working on Daisy’s beautiful long coat.
Her portrait was quite the challenge due to the shading which dulled down the colours in her fur.
Would definitely call myself more of a dog person than a cat person but I’ve really missed out on drawing these wonderful felines this year! Where are all the cats?? 🐈 🐈⬛
Lady
I had very little time to complete Lady’s portrait with it being time critical. I couldn’t resist the challenge.
What does everyone think about the background colour? It’s from my new pan pastels which I’m having a lot of fun using. Hoping to slowly build up my collection overtime as they’re not cheap 😅
Lady
Thought it would be an interesting contrast to show the ugly stage next to the complete stage.
Since I don’t have many pastels I had to improvise with the colour.
