wanting to avoid the kind of people who only walk the last 100km, I took an alternate route called the Via Künig.

It's less travelled, less populated, with little to no shops/coffee shops or services of any kind. Besides adding an extra few days to my route, it's also the original route, crossing Galician hills and ancient forests.

Ending in Lugo, it connects to the for another longer, harder trek toward Santiago which is now further away than I would have been had I stayed on the Camino Frances.

Having just arrived in Lugo now I'm enjoying the first food & coffee I've found in more than 24 hours, and I'm ecstatic.

If this teaches me anything it is that no matter how s**t things get or how low life drags you... A smile is only ever a few more miles away.
