Less than a month to go! Time is running out to book the last few places of AutPlay Therapy with the prestigious Robert Jason Grant at Box End, Bedford.
Many of us are being inundated with referrals for children who have a diagnosed neurodiverse condition, and many more referrals for children and young people who are still awaiting assessment/diagnoses and are also struggling considerably with everyday life experiences. Do you feel fully equipped to support these children, young people and their families?
We have an amazing opportunity to learn how to incorporate AutPlay Therapy into our practice. Robert Grant is the creator of AutPlay Therapy, a neurodiverse affirming framework that will teach us how we can implement these vital play therapy skills into practice to support the mental health needs of neurodivergent children, young people and their families.

Hi to all our friends who are celebrating Pride Month 🌈
Join us for our Elevenses coffee and chat on 14 June 2024 to have open and constructive conversation about the reality of therapeutic working. ☕🫖
The topic requested by one of our community members for discussion this month will be “When is a play therapist not a play therapist?”
If you are curious about different peoples views on the differing levels of directive work, or the extent of our therapeutic tool kit being offered. Once qualified therapists often undertake further training integrating different models of therapy into their work with clients, at what point does play therapy stop being play therapy and move into a different modality of therapy.
If you have topics you would like to offer for discussion please get in touch via our website: www.schoolofpact.com/contact

Join Eileen in Kent on 21/09/2024 for a hands-on day of working with clay underpinned by theoretical learning.
Clay is a very powerful malleable resource within therapy and counselling which can bring about a transformative effect within the psyche. Working with Clay offers non-verbal channels for self-expression and self awareness through the tactile sensory experience of being with clay. Eileen undertook research offering clay to children who presented with Oppositional Defiant Behaviours, the outcome of engaging with clay for each child was phenomenal.

Songs can bring powerful messages to us.
I remember undertaking outreach visits to children and their parents, hearing their personal stories and how they hoped life would be different for their children, the “Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston began to play on the radio. As I listened to the words
“I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give then a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be”
I was struck by how poignant these words were!
What song lyrics resonate with you and why? 🎙🎼🎤🎷

Working with looked after children and potential placement breakdown 💡
When a placement breaks down it is yet another confirmation to the child that they are not lovable. For the child it is another rejection upon many rejections. It is proof that once more adults have seen fit to discard them.
In the toxic world of an abused child this makes sense as they firmly believe that they are not lovable and they invoke strategies that will help confirm this inner belief.
Web therapy investigates the back to front thinking of the traumatised child and breaks down the behaviours that lead to the breakdown of the foster/adopted/kinship placements.
We will explore ways that parents, schools and other professionals can counter the behavioural strategies that the children employ.
Web therapy is not a one size fits all model. You can take elements of it and apply the training to many of the children you work with. From children that have experienced traumatic events, right through to complex trauma and placement breakdowns
Over two days we will cover:
Trauma
Secondary trauma
How trauma affects attachment.
Issues around control, shame, dissociation, peer relationships.
How to spot attachment difficulties and how to work with those difficulties.
How trauma affect brain development
Bring multiple models together and show how they dovetail together
Back to front thinking.
Collaborative assessments (Home, School, Therapy)
Trauma recovery models.
Working with family, schools and other professionals.
Incorporating a web of support around the child.
