After near 3 years of not creating digital art I saw this and was immediately struck by its simplistic beauty just like a bobber should be. Unfortunately I could not find the owner of the bike so unable to tag owner/builder atm. Location for their Saturday bike night.

So I heard there was a Bike night up at Woodrows in Swansea on Saturday 11 May 2024 so popped up with my camera and wasn't disappointed in the slightest.

Fantasic evening with some great guys and girls can't wait for the next one 🔥🤘😎👍🔥

When you go over bikes from the past and realise that just prior to WW2 the British motorcycling industry was on the verge of catapulting race engineering into the stratosphere.

The engineers where passionate, eger and a little bit crazy. Managers/ owners where enthusiasts through and through probably driving the bean counters insane with orders to find the money not just micromanage the cost and use of washers.

Here's a supercharged Ariel square 4 in all her beauty from 1933 at the same time AJS where experimenting on a Supercharged V4 water-cooled bike which hit the track in 1936.

Both AJS and Ariel never truly recovered that mentality after the war and stopped nearly all the "let's give it a go" experimental engineering, as with all the other British motorcycle manufacturers inevitably leading to the decline in speed and investment into development & ingenuity whilst reinforcing stagnation through the arrogance disguised as "tradition" and excessive bean counting and cost cutting instead of being inspired.

What I take from this:

Be inspired, experiment never lose that spark of curiosity, enjoy the journey of discovery as much as reaping the seeds of success at the end and encourage the wonderment of youth to surpass and exceed us.
