I've been very quiet this year with my whittling as I got a new job which has taken most of my time. Excitingly working towards becoming a forest school teacher so I can show kids the joy of nature and the natural world! And possibly inspire the next generation of whittlers.

Had such a wonderful weekend teaching kids how to whittle and fire building 🍄💜

Went for a mushroom hunt yesterday whilst on holiday and found an oak branch covered in turquoise elfcups!

The wonderful fungi stains the wood this beautiful blue/green as it's eating away at it. Caught it just as the right time before it's complete decayed.

So naturally I've made some fungi pendants out of it 🍄💜 Will have them on my Etsy once I'm back home.

Hello lovely people, here's a close up of my Spalted Beech fungi friends 🍄🪵

The beautiful patterns in the wood are created by fungi that has colonised in the wood and extract nutrients from it, leaving behind dark spotted and line patterns.

Each one is completely unique and I love everyone I do. Beech is a hardwood so it takes a longer time to carve these guys up but are worth the time 🍄💜

Trying out some new textures and woods for this batch. Playing with spalted Beech which has gorgeous patterns created by fungi are by my favourites despite it taking longer to carve them.

I started my new job as a groundskeeper a few weeks ago and still trying to find the balance between work, whittling and regular life but the spring sun is giving me the energy to create! ☀️🌿

Sorry for the delay on this batch, I've been balancing commissions, my job and life. Sorry I've been away a while, life has been very busy in the new year and I've been working away on commissioned pieces. One of them being some fungi friends for terrariums workshops at the wonderful Silver Roots plant shop 🌿🍄

Today marks 1 year since I whittled my first mushrooms (2nd picture on the right)

It's fair to say that it has taken over my life since then. Its helped me massively in my struggles with mental health. Giving me a sense of purpose when I was feeling hopeless.

Very grateful to have had the opportunity to sell my work around the world, something I'd never thought would of happened.

I cant wait to see what the future holds for my whittling adventure and thank you to all of you lovely folk who've followed along so far 🍄✌️
