Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas Everyone!

We're off to recharge our batteries after what feels like a long but adventurous year.

Thankyou to our suppliers who have coped admirably with the demand in during some difficult times for deliveries.

And an even bigger Thankyou to everyone who has chosen Greenfield Stoves to install their woodburners. We've enjoyed each and every project.

If you think woodburner installation might make a mess in your home - think again. Here's the flue nicely installed, now all we need to do is attach it to the stove and this beauty will be ready to start warming the room.

When you have a woodburning stove and a clothes horse your tumble drier is virtually redundant.

Woodburners are so efficient at heating a room, that they can easily dry your laundry too. Just don't drape your clothes over the stove or put them too close to it.

Saves a fortune in electricity!

Gosh, winter seems to have arrived in West Norfolk! It's day's like this that I'm grateful for my woodburning stove. I don't necessarily want to use my central heating during the day - because the house is empty. But on the other hand, I don't want the children to come home from school and into a freezing cold living room. So I compromise.

By having the woodburner running every evening, I find it gets warm enough so that it will retain the heat of the fire and then release it slowly the following day. That means, a toasty warm room when we come down to breakfast and enough heat to keep the kids comfortable when they get home from school.

Yes, we do need to switch on the central heating to stop the bedrooms and the bathroom feeling like the arctic, but honestly, we use a lot less heating oil in the winter than we did before the woodburner was installed.

You might have seen on the news that the Government is worried about emissions from domestic fires and that in some areas, there are restrictions on what you can burn.

Ready for autumn?

Nothing beats a log fire on a chilly evening and now is the time to get your firewood store ready.

Be sure to raise logs off the ground and find a way to keep the rain off them too. There's new legislation about what can and can't be burnt on your fire and wet wood is a no-no!
