Recognising where you are. A young Buddhist Monk realised he truly understood the meaning of life. After years of studying he now new. He excitedly wrong to his master who lived 200 hundred miles away. Master I understand the meaning of life, the importance of neither bowing to praise or criticism, i know life he gushed. 6 weeks later his letter returned. On the top of the page it said 'fart, fart' fart, fart. He was furious how could the Master treat him this way. He decided to go see him. He travelled for 6 weeks up the Yangtse river, till he finally reached the Master house. When he arrived he said 'Master how could you do this to me? I confided in you, shared my soul, my beliefs. The Master said you understand life? You no longer bow to praise or criticism yet 4 little farts have brought you here?

The Importance of letting go
A young monk and old wisened monk from a devout order began a 20 mile journey. Such was their dedication they were forbidden from contact with women. At the start of the journey they met an old women stranded on the side of the river. The only way to cross was to wade through the water, she was too frail. ‘Please Monk help me’ she begged. The old monk looked and then said climb on my shoulders and I will carry out. This he did and she was so grateful. They continued the rest of the journey in silence. The younger monk was furious, everything they believed in the monk had thrown away to help this old women. They walked in silence the younger monk got more angry. Right at the end of their long trek he could no longer contain himself. How could you? You have sacrificed everything we are for that old lady. The wisened monk looked at him, and said.
‘That is true, I carried the women across the river’. Yet you my son have carried her for 19 miles’.

I am proud to say I spend the whole of Covid-19 working in a busy Department in a large Hospital, with a Team, who came to work everyday and no matter how tough it got out there, they held there heads high, buried their fear and did it anyway. Proud to have known you guys!
