We've been very quiet on the socials lately, but lots of work going on in the background

Corsa D in for a head gasket last month, head skimmed, new chain kit fitted, flushed engine oil and refilled with castrol. It also had a crack in the top of the exhaust manifold so we've fitted a new BH manicat to the vehicle aswell as a full exhaust system as it pretty much fell apart on removal.

Corsaghini D in for a service and MOT. This customer noticed his car had run out of MOT and asked us to give it a good check over; unfortunately for them, a few components had worn out, and it wouldn't have passed the MOT.

We replaced the front discs and pads, a brake caliper, and fitted a new headlight unit because the old one was smashed internally, causing the headlight beam to point towards the sky.

Quick call to Motor Parts Direct and we got all the parts needed fitted the same day just in time before the MOT.

Set of rear pads for this Mercedes for the local baker in Marden. We made good use of the phoenix elite to back the caliper motors off to replace the pads.

Quite a straight forward procedure but a necessity when replacing rear pads on cars with an electric handbrake.

Returning customer with their import Nissan Elgrand in for a full rear brake set up, including pads, discs, calipers, sliders, and carriers.

The rear caliper had seized on causing the pads we replaced earlier in the year to wear out fast on a journey to Cornwall and back, so rather than replace one side the customer opted to replaced the whole brake system on the back of the vehicle.

Skoda Octavia VRS in for a clutch and flywheel last week, we've removed that many of these 6 speed VAG gearboxes that we can do them with our eyes shut. Lovely clutch job in our eyes

All parts were replaced with like for like OEM Luk clutch and flywheel kit. And we carried out a full gearbox oil flush and change as done with all clutch replacements.

Discovery 3 in for a full service today, quite a clean example being nearly 20 years old.

All filters replaced, then refilled with the recommended Castrol oil, and gave the engine bay a quick clean up with APC and Lumen (even if I did forget to take a picture 🤦🏻‍♂️)

Anddddd another one!

This time in for a horrendous knocking noise and a driveshaft oil seal.

After some head scratching after checking all the bushes and arms, we decided to take the top mounts off and inspect them, just aswell that we did as one of the top mounts fell apart and the other one had half the mounting seat missing.

New parts fitted and another one shortly back to work, this time without sending the driver mad because of a knocking noise.

Yet another Motor Parts Direct van in today for its first service.

This van takes 0w20 oil, which is a very thin grade of oil, and it is safe to say when draining, It made an absolute mess of the workshop floor as it went everywhere 🤦🏻‍♂️

However (after cleaning up the oil splatter) service complete and given back to MPD so they can get on with their deliveries.

Mobile visit for a friend yesterday, Audi TTRS for a diagnosis of a misfire.

We tried swapping coil packs and plugs around from cylinder to cylinder to try and get down to the source of the problem, but to no avail, next step compression test.

Unfortunately for this customer cylinder 1 was down on compression only making 60psi. 😕 customer advised engine needs stripping down to find source of low compression.

Peugeot 308 Estate in last week for a knocking noise when pulling away, a quick check over found that both CVs had play on the driveshaft.

Full replacement driveshaft supplied by AH Hobbs, fitted and back to normal.

We went out to this Astra Bertone for a non start issue. A vehicle not often seen on the roads anymore.

Customer initially believed the vehicle to have a battery drain, but after a quick test using our battery tester the battery was in near perfect health, so after giving it a little helping hand with the jump pack we soon found out the starter motor was throwing out but not spinning.

After checking the wiring, it was found that the starter motor itself was at fault, not surprising, being the original original starter motor. One quick trip to Motor Parts Direct later, and a new starter motor was fitted, and the vehicle starts every time.
