This is definitely the largest single tier cake I have made to date!
3 x 14 inch lemon sponge layers, sandwiched together with raspberry jam, lemon buttercream swirled with lemon curd and decorated with fresh raspberries.
This cake is for a wedding today. I love the fact that it looks so summery and fresh.

If you have a special occasion coming up, I am still taking orders for weekend collection - cakes, traybakes, puddings, buffet food and family dining.

Busy Baking Week!
I have been a bit quiet lately as I really haven’t had time to post!
Some of you may be aware that Mima (my middle daughter) has taken up a full time position in a local firm - so I am back to the one woman show in the shop. Unless of course, I can bribe any of my daughters or friends to come and help when I get too overwhelmed 🤪🤪
This week I have had several celebration cakes and food orders, which has kept me out of mischief but probably added a few grey hairs to my already rapidly whitening mop! The tart is classic quiche Lorraine and the dish in the background is Haddock & Vegetable Mornay😋😋
Next week I will be concentrating on topping the freezer up as it is nearly empty again! Don’t forget that I take batch orders to avoid disappointment.
Also, my summer home entertainment menu and meal range list will be in the shop next week to help you plan for those hot summer weekends and balmy evenings 🤞🤞☀️☀️🕶

All of our fillings are made fresh on the premises, including our ever popular coronation chicken, and each sandwich is finished with a flourish of love 🤩💕 Paired with our incredible bread, baked by Plaxtol Bakery, our sandwiches really are the best in town 🤌🏼

We won’t lie to you, these last couple of weeks have been very difficult for us, and we are not out of the woods yet. We hope that our new refurbishment will encourage both regular customers, and new ones as well, to enjoy what we have to offer and feel welcome when they pop in 🥰🙏🏼 Please do pop in to say hello, and even stay for a chat and a cup of tea, we need your support more than ever! ❤️‍🩹🫂

The Super Sumpter gang are back!
I definitely get by with a [huge] help from my friends ⭐️💪🏻👯‍♀️⭐️
These two legends came in and totally up cycled and transformed the old kitchen units into a beautiful new counter. The results are amazing, even without the paint finish!!
Several cups of hot tea later and it was as if the counter has always been there.
I love them both so much 😍👩‍🍳⏲
We now have so much more room for activities [sic] 🤣

It has been a very unsettling time but we are thrilled with our new look shop and can’t wait to welcome you all back 🥰
You will notice a few changes in our services, operations and trading hours. This is because like many small businesses - who are still reeling from the effects of the pandemic - we are trying to “future-proof” to keep pace with changes in shopping habits and the needs of our local community 🛍🛒
Rising energy and food wholesale costs are a factor in our planning too and to ensure we are able to continue trading efficiently, we are having make some compromises to safe guard our business.

Thank you for bearing with us. We are so looking forward to seeing your faces again. We have missed you!

🔴 Langtons will be closed from Saturday 19th of February to Thursday 3rd of March.

Some of you may be aware that the floor of the shop needs to be replaced and over the next week we will be preparing to clear the shop front in time for next Saturday.

This work has come at a really bad time for us as latterly we have seen an overall slow down in footfall from the village and this has lead us to yet again rethink how we use our space to ensure the shop continues to serve the village and wider community.

Over the coming days, we will be posting our journey over the last two years - from opening just before the first lockdown, the tireless efforts of the staff to keep the shop open when other businesses closed or ran out of stock and what we are hoping to achieve over the next year.

We need your custom more than ever, so please show your support in the comments below and share our account and FB page wherever possible, so that we can keep our little shop open.
