Happy Trails to You πΆ. The TWTC were out and about on Saturday morning running the stunning trails around Groombridge. It was crisp, it was cold. We had coffee and cake in the Groombridge Community Cafe afterwards. Each Saturday we do a scenic trail run in the area offering a variety of distances and paces. If you would like to join our friendly club for a trial membership, please see our website. πββοΈ πββοΈ π§‘π€

The mighty Orange & Black were out in force at Bewl Triathlon on Sunday. Lots to celebrate including podiums, top tens or racers and supporters just enjoying the atmosphere and sunshine. Well done to all club members who competed! π§‘π€
TWTC members enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at .kent to learn group riding and other cycling skills. The lashing wind and rain didnβt discourage some frantic sprint and pursuit racing at the end of the session! π΄ββοΈπ΄π΄ββοΈπ¨π§οΈπ§‘π€
Over 20 hardy TWTC riders braved very wet conditions to meet at The Greyhound in Charcott for a fabulous Bacon Butty Brunch social meet up. The breakfast baps were very good indeed. Looking forward to more social events as the weather improves π΄ββοΈπ΄π΄ββοΈπ₯π³π§οΈπ§‘π€π
Well done to all TWTC members who completed the Hell of the Ashdown 2023 sportive on Sunday. 100km of riding, 1900m of climb and bitterly cold weather made for a challenging day out. But a good time was had by all! Thanks so much to for putting on an excellent event once again. π§‘π€π΅ββοΈπ΅π₯Ά
Over 20 members of TWTC took part in the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon on Sunday with some great performances from the Orange and Black in the sunshine. More memories from 2022. This time from hot and sunny July and August which saw club members racing (and winning) at Hever Castle, Bewl Water and Alpe dβHuez. Plus lots of training rides around the hills of Kent and Sussex! π π§‘π€
Our 2022 advent calendarπwarms up with a look back to May and June. Racing highlights included a rainy π§οΈ East Grinstead Triathlon and a sunny π Marshman triathlon, plus supporters who rode out to Appledore to cheer on the team. Further highlights included David Bagge and Jane Blunt representing Team GB at the World Duathlon Championships in Romania coming 2nd and 4th respectively. A good time was had by all!! π§‘π€
Hereβs the next Christmas cracker from the advent calendar π. March and April saw club members fly to Mallorca for the annual PiTB cycling trip. This included a trip to the velodrome and epic rides across the mountains of the island π΅ββοΈπ΅. Closer to home the club took part in the 7Oaks triathlon while David Bagge won the AG British Duathlon championships. For training, our ever popular trails by torchlight π¦ saw us trudging through muddy fields and woods before heading to a pub somewhere. All good fun! π§‘π€. Stay tuned for more 2022 highlights .

Members of Tunbridge Wells Triathlon Club recently tackled the Alpe dβHuez Triathlon, one of the toughest races in the multi-sports calendar. Situated in the heart of the French Alps, the race commenced with a 2.2km swim in the crystal clear waters of Lac du Verney. This was followed by the 118km bike leg with over 3200 metres of ascent finishing with the famous 21 bends of the Alpe d'Huez, a climb of 14km at 8% gradient. Finally, the competitors tackled the 20km mixed terrain run (road and trail) which included over 300 metres of ascent and a run down an airport runway. Well done to all TWTC competitors who completed this iconic course! π§‘π€π΅ββοΈπ΅π΅ββοΈ

TWTC were honoured to take receipt of the Nina Foord Trophy from our friends at the Tunbridge Wells Harriers. Nina was a long standing Harrier, who was also a great advocate and participant in Triathlon. Nina sadly passed away in 2020. With a growing number of people now being members of both clubs and with some shared training sessions, hopefully this will further cement the ties between our clubs. The trophy will form part of TWTCβs annual end of season awards. Read more about Nina here https://www.britishtriathlon.org/news/tributes-paid-to-nina-foord%C2%A0_14357

Our first Saturday trail run of 2022 had a great turnout despite the grey and damp morning.
Nice to see both new and old members out there on the muddy trails.
We had groups doing the 8km & 15km routes, some rehabbing with run-walk, before the essential coffee stop at the end.

All abilities most welcome!
The first Saturday of the month is parkrun tourism day at TWTC. 14 of us + 3 dogs + 2 kids in a buggy headed to Bedgebury Pinetum this morning.
Followed by a lovely mucky ride round the red route for some winter MTBing.
Best of luck to TWTC club legend Dave Bagge as he heads off to the World Duathlon Championships in Aviles, Spain. Smash it Baggy! (and remember short socks are winning socks π)
David Bagge is M55-59 British Champion π
Following swiftly on from his win at Hever, David Bagge headed up to the British Standard Distance Duathlon Championships the next weekend - and won his age group!
Another amazing result - next stop is the World Championships in Spain. π π΄π»π
