⭐️ Great news coming in ⭐️

‘Nathan, Seth and Ezekiel from Year 7 travelled to England last weekend to take part in the 2024 17th Supreme Boxing Kart Championships for Cub Scouts at Goodwood Racetrack. Nathan, Seth and Ezekiel alongside their two teammates were chosen to represent 12th Bangor Cub Scouts as part of the only team from Northern Ireland.

The competition consisted of 38 teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland duking it out over 240 heats. The boys competed in 12 heats (winning 10), sailing into the thrilling knockout ‘shootout’ stage, then into the last 8 quarter finals and semi finals finishing in the coveted top 4 places, placing 4th!

This is quite an amazing feat as the boys only have access to their Kart for an hour’s practice the day previous to the competition compared with other teams in GB who have year round access.

The boys were commended on their true sportsmanship as Cub Scouts and their joyful enthusiasm for all teams competing. They proudly represented 12th Bangor Cub Scouts and NI.’

We’re super excited to announce we’re working with Asda on Cashpot for Schools, a new initiative they are launching today!

We’ve dedicated 68 years to school fundraising, so we couldn’t be more delighted to be helping Asda to distribute millions of pounds to primary schools in the coming months.

We’ll be connecting more than 11,000 primary school PTAs to this brilliant opportunity via our PTA membership and helping primary schools without a PTA or parent council onboard and benefit from this initiative.

This week we say goodbye to one of our amazing Classroom Assistants, Miss Reid from Y1.

You may remember our amazing Irish dancing at our St Patrick’s Day assembly? This was choreographed by our very own Miss Reid, who amongst other talents is an Ulster Champion Irish Dancer. She is not only an accomplished dancer but teaches classes from age 4 up. Please see the link below for classes.

Year 7 danced their socks off at their end of year disco.

What a great way to end year 7! 💛

Year 3 loved learning about magnificent castles, brave knights and fierce dragons!

They finished their topic with a visit to Carrickfergus Castle and a Medieval Day in school. 💛

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) with the assistance of Storehouse North Down has asked us to advise parents who may find it difficult to handle the extra cost of providing food for children over the summer holidays that SVP is able to provide some help with food and food vouchers.

We have the total raised for GOSH Hearts and Lungs for Kids. We raised the fantastic amount of just over £2100!! Wow!!

We just adored our active day with Active Youth NI and what an amount we have to send to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children's Charity.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped on the day. We enjoyed watching our super video captured by Mr Johnston, which showed just what a dancetastic day it was 😆💃🕺.

Year 6 took part in a Tag Rugby Blitz at Regent.

They played 5 and won 5 and were overall winners of their section. Amazing results. What a team 💪.

Blake in Year 6 only started Ice Hockey in September and has progressed quickly! He currently plays for Junior Giants.

Blake had his 1st tournament 2 weeks ago and they smashed it! The team came 1st and won every match of the tournament. Last weekend was his 2nd tournament and again they smashed it, winning every match!

Wow, what an amazing result! Well done to Blake! We are so proud.

Year 6 really enjoyed learning lots of new skills from the Regent House coaches during their Tag Rugby sessions.

Great team work was shown by all. 💛

Great success at the North Down Athletics competition last week.

Lots of medals were won with the girls’ team securing the Girls Cup for third best team overall. The girls also won the gold in the relay race.

We are so proud of all our competitors - a brilliant week for Kilmaine! 💛

What a lot of lovely, shiny medals this week in assembly. We celebrated lots of achievements outside of school, from gymnastics to dancing to football to swimming, to name a few.

As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Volunteers’ Week, we are reminded of the important impact that volunteers have on our schools and wider community.
