I've written on here recently that I've not been feeling myself lately - and not in a way that I recognise in terms of my fibromyalgia or how I feel when I am depressed. So, it's left me feeling a wee bit unsure of myself, which is quite scary!

But, I have been doing a lot of reading and research into menopause and perimenopause, and I have recognised a LOT of the signs of it in my recent feelings and behaviours.

Obviously, I'm not qualified to diagnose myself but I do know my own mind and body (as complicated as both can be!), and I'm pretty convinced that I am stepping into the world of perimenopause - and even if I'm not fully immersed in it yet, I absolutely will be over the coming years and I want to be as informed as I can be, as well as support other women who are going through it too.

So, I jumped at the chance to support the M Club Angus launch here in Arbroath.

M Club is a peer support group where we can chat openly and honestly about menopause - from the serious to the funny and everything in between.

See the graphic for details and I'll see you there!

Our next intake for the SQA Mental Health and Wellbeing Award is scheduled as follows:

w/c 31/7/23 - 1-1 inductions via Teams or face to face as preferred

From then on, the course requires attendance at 2 face to face training sessions with the group (per unit) that lasts from 9.30am until 12.30pm (to accommodate school hours). Dates of these are:

UNIT 1 - 18/8/23 and 25/8/23
UNIT 2 - 15/9/23 and 22/9/23
UNIT 3 - 20/10/23 and 27/10/23

These dates allow for Angus school holidays when childcare might be an issue. Dates are flexible by agreement of group and we are happy to do night classes/weekend delivery if this proves popular.

We continue to offer the qualification in partnership with Reach Across who provides an amazing mental health service to the community of Angus. This partnership means we have kept our cost extremely low for the next intake - only £90 per unit! That's a total saving of £225 on our list price. For this you get high quality face-to-face training, peer and tutor interaction and support, registration, certification and ongoing support between training sessions.

The more people who learn about mental health, the things that can impact our wellbeing, and the strategies and skills that can promote resilience, the better. Let's continue to remove the stigma. MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!

If you are interested in undertaking this qualification, you will need to commit to two lessons per unit and approximately 25 hours of self-directed work/study/assessment time per unit.

Contact us now to reserve your place or to get more information. At this price, places will fill up fast. Don't miss out as spaces are limited.

Call Marie on 07738 886372 or 01241 830376 or send us a message with your contact details and we will call you back.

SQA MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING AWARD. INTERESTED? CONTACT MARIE TO BOOK YOUR PLACE NOW!!

13/06/2023

So pleased for Charlene. Another successful candidate for the SQA Mental Health and Well-being Award.

Chuffed to bits to have achieved my SQA Award in Mental Health & Wellbeing.

Juggling work/being mum/running a house/getting a puppy/exercising/getting plenty of sleep (I don't do that 🫣)/getting my 5-a-day (don't do that either🤫)...AND taking on a new qualification hasn't been easy - but it has been absolutely worth it!

I've enhanced my knowledge and understanding of mental health and had the pleasure of doing so with an awesome group of human beings that I've loved getting to know better.

There were times, especially in my final assessment, that I seriously doubted myself, but the support from my fellow students got me across the line! 😊

Thank you to Marie at SETS Ltd for all of your support and encouragement along the way.

And thank you to Reach Across for everything you did for us to allow us to do this brilliant course.

It’s not often that I wax lyrical online about my learners and their work, but today I have been particularly impressed at one learner’s efforts to meet the demands of her final assessment in the SQA mental health and well-being award. The creativity shown and end product are extremely impressive - a book about anxiety aimed at children.

This qualification is so adaptable and flexible in terms of assessment approaches and I am constantly amazed at the imagination shown by those who take the course.

Everyone who undertakes this qualification helps to raise awareness of mental health issues and supports available. I feel truly privileged to be delivering this very important message.

Next course starts at the end of June. Places are limited so if interested please pm for details or email [email protected]

What a great Journalling for Anxiety workshop we had last night. It was lovely to see people relax and actively engage with the activities and discussions. If you have experienced anxiety you will know how debilitating it can be and how hard it is to push through that to do the things you want to do. For some, coming to the workshop was a huge step and a massive achievement. It was heartening to hear from everyone in the group last night and the feedback was very positive.

Congratulations Lauren Simpson. A very well deserved award and I’m sure you will put all learning into practice. Well done. Formal presentation ceremony to be arranged!

Next course starting end of June. If anyone is interested, please pm for details.

💚MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK💚

Skilz are proud to prioritise staff development to support them in their role and beyond. 🫶🏻

Lauren started the course in February and received her SCQF Level 5 Mental Health & Wellbeing Award last week. 👏🏼

The course was delivered by SETS Ltd. These awards in Mental Health and Wellbeing support the Scottish Government’s Mental Health Strategy 2017–2027. Its guiding ambition for mental health is simple but, if realised, will change and save lives: ‘We must prevent and treat mental health problems with the same commitment, passion and drive as we do with physical health problems.’

Lauren said, ‘I am proud to have gained my qualification in Mental Health & Wellbeing. I feel it is important that I am able to support our participants as much as possible, and this qualification has reinforced things I knew and has made me more aware of the barriers and stigma that can surround mental health.’

Well done Lauren 🥰
