Colon Cancer & Me
I was diagnosed with colon cancer, May 2021. I'm writing a blog to talk about it.
Continuing the March on by praising the amazing work of the NHS who are constantly going above and beyond for patients' lives and continue to do so with a huge smile on their faces.

Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK and it can have devastating effects if not caught early. Raising awareness of this cancer is essential to ensure that people are aware of the symptoms, risk factors and early detection methods. This will help to reduce the mortality rate from this disease and give people a better chance at survival.
It is important to understand bowel cancer, its symptoms, and how it can be prevented or detected early on. Knowing about risk factors for developing bowel cancer in the UK, as well as being aware of how to detect it in its early stages, will help individuals take steps towards prevention or early detection. By raising awareness about these topics we can help save lives and reduce suffering from this disease.
If you experience any of the following symptoms please contact your GP:
Bleeding from the re**um
Pale stools
Abdominal pain and cramps
Sudden or extreme weight loss
These symptoms may present themselves individually, so it is important that you speak to a healthcare professional as soon as possible.

The blog will be updated every week as I continue to talk about my journey surviving cancer and as a bonus I’ve created a page called ‘Living with a Stoma: An Unexpectedly Funny Journey’ with an attempt of bringing a little bit of humour to a very serious subject. I hope you like it.
There are affiliated links to products and adverts to help provide an income. I tell you this to be very honest as I’ve lost a lot of money being off sick from work and this would really help support me and my family.

Don’t forget to check the best blog about colon cancer on this planet from my cancer buddy www.mypainintheassblog.co.uk a true and vivid, no holds bar account of how cancer can f*ck you up and how to push through it. If it were a book I could not put it down.
Also, you have to check out who is a recovery coach and has a Bachelor within Science in Nursing. She’s doing some amazing work and I wish her all the success she deserves.
I came across and although she has ignored my message praising her work on mental health and the genius design and colourful ways she helps promote a healthy mind with simple acts please do check out her page.
Don’t forget to visit https://coloncancerandme.co.uk/ today and join the fight against this disease!
Everywhere you look there are figures of how many people survived cancer and (sadly) how many people died. Even after winning the fight, it changed my life forever. How did cancer affect you? How did it affect your loved ones?
January 2022 entry is on the blog. It’s the month when I started blogging, what was I thinking?! It must have been the opioids I’ve been taking. I mean, who would ever read this horse s**t?? It actually turns out people like it and some have been sending me positive messages about it. They seem to come at a time when I’m questioning whether to carry on or not, it spurs me on to keep writing so thank you for your kind words.
However, the only person that doesn't is so, she decided to write her own version of events which you find on the new page ‘Your Story’ on the site. ‘Your Story’ Icon is located on the top left hand corner on the home page alternatively you can visit https://www.coloncancerandme.co.uk/your-story/
If you would like to share your story please do DM me and I would love for you to get in contact and put your story on my site, whether you're fighting the fight or supporting a loved one or if you want to use the site to honour someone who you deeply miss. Writing, as I’ve found, can be very therapeutic and writing the words of what has happened gives you perspective and it can help you find meaning in a time of hardship and grief. It helps you move on whilst cherishing all that once was and all that you have. Just check out I’m sure the ‘enlightedment’ only came after the diagnoses and the ‘arsehole’ well………. Who am I to judge?! Love you brother x
Also, take a look at the project which is a global campaign, they carried out a huge survey and the results are shocking. Over 2,500 people under 50 are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year! Some of the facts are so close to home, that testing for Lynch syndrome is a game-changer yet genetic testing is not being offered to everyone, there’s more about this in the blog. It's staggering how many people have visited their GP multiple times before getting diagnosed just because of their age. I was in the best shape of my life when I was diagnosed with cancer and I had to fight for a blood test after seeing the Doctor 3 times! I was 25 when I went for a colonoscopy (plus 13).
For those that aren’t aware, A hero of mine had sadly gone into hospice care, at home. She is releasing a book called ‘How to Live When You Could Be Dead’ the title may sound morbid but it is trying to encourage people to have a positive mindset when dealing with hard truths. She hoping the release of the book will be in August this year ahead of the schedule and she will be donating money from the sale of the book to the Bowel Babe Fund which has raised a staggering £6,371,452 (of the time of writing this post). It goes to show that in a time of crisis no matter what is going on in the world humanity shows itself in kindness and support for a just cause. I wish you all the best Dame you are in my prayers and in our hearts.

My eight year old son came to me and said he has decided what he wants to do in life, he wants to sell 'merch'. He said he saw the advert and thought that it was as simple as writing a few words on a cap or a t-shirt and the design would pop off the screen onto his body. I laughed and said the real world doesn't work like that but we can both look into how it's done and if that hasn't put him off then I would help him sell 'merch'.
After a few videos, we signed up to with a t-shirt business in mind. were the best service I could find for an on demand printing. Then we set up an store and he created this (above photo), with a lot of trial and error. His first design made me feel as if I was Doctor Strange trying to contain the multiverse.
My son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD but that doesn't stop him dreaming and coming up with some great ideas. If his dream is to be an entrepreneur then who am I to stop him. And as a parent, it's my job to give them the life experience to help them stand on their own two feet. I have to say his first try isn't too shabby and left me very impressed.
If there is anyone interested in purchasing a t-shirt please visit the Etsy store @ https://www.etsy.co/uk/shop/FashionbyShamim or DM me for the link. The store is named after my mum.
Also, If there is anyone who is interested in setting up a t-shirt business let me know and I'll check with my son's diary to fit you in.
Oh, and my daughter (9 years old) designed one too. She's an amazing young mind who always gives things a go!
As it's the holy month of Ramadan 10% of all profits will go to charity.
Thanks to passive income for his videos.

Hi,
My name is Mohammad, I'm 37, male, living in the UK working as a Project Manager for an online grocer. I have 2 children 1 boy (8) and 1 girl (9).
I was minding my own business making green smoothies eating majority vegan food, not that I'm a vegan, I just wanted to be more healthy. Suddenly I'm hit with, colon cancer.
Fortunately, I'm one of the lucky ones that survived and currently recovering at home. I told myself should I be so fortunate I would tell my story to help someone somewhere to help with their journey and support for loved ones.
Please visit www.coloncancerandme.co.uk and share and subscribe. I'm updating the blog every Thursday and backdating it from October 2020.
Thank you so much.
