Hello Everyone!
I thought you may enjoy a private viewing of my current piece I am working on.
A scene from Weir Wood Reservoir the little back road leading from Sharpthorne to EG.
Should look really nice once completed.
Also I would like to ask a couple of questions
which I would really appreciate any one’s thoughts.

1 . If you were looking for a piece of artwork
what subjects would most interest you?

2. Are there any favourite areas in East Grinstead that you would love to see a painting of?

3. What size and mediums?

Thank you,
Amanda

Hello Everyone!
I proudly present my latest piece or artwork Renaissance Roses (series 2) 3 piece set. Textured roses onto canvas original. Taken from the original Renaissance Roses piece.
I made this second piecmanye in the series as the first piece was loved by .
Struggling with composition, I finally put together something that I felt was interesting.
I realized while creating this new piece that the scope for continuation in the series was endless.
I had to get the consistency right with the home made texture paste, not too thick and not too thin so it wouldn't run down the canvas. While mixing the paste the smell of glue and slight perfume from the powder used was exciting to say the least. As I was dreaming up how to create this new piece. At one point I got a mouth full of almost metallic tasting powder as I squeezed it in the bowl. Then I put the spoon into to test the mixture, feeling the consistency, it was ready !
Then after some considerable time sculpting my new piece, to my horror the mixture started running down the canvas.
Oh no. I had to do something quick! Before it started drying.
After having patiently worked the texturing I had to act quick to sort it out, so as to keep the precision of the piece.
I placed it on the floor and fixed the runs, being careful not to move the canvases until the work was dry.
Entering my studio almost every half hour to make sure that it hadn't started running again.
I woke up the next morning and rushed into the studio to take a look, and to my delight the pieces of art work had dried all in tact with no runs. And I felt extremely happy with the end result.
If anyone would like a set of these you can DM me.

Commission of Multnomah Falls, Oregon.
This was a special one, as the customer had one of their first dates there, and wanted the painting to remind them of it...
This was my first waterfall ever painted. During this commission I had to watch a YouTube video of how to go about painting them over and over until I could do what was being shown.
My biggest barrier while doing this, was my own negativity coming in and telling me that "I wouldn't be able to do it".
I persisted and persisted and continued to study the video until I felt comfortable that I had grasped the know how on how to go about doing this piece of artwork. I was so proud of myself at having achieved my goal of completing this painting. As it was a special one because it really related to the person's life at the time, so it had to be done properly.
Part of the excitement of painting this piece was that it was a place that I would like to visit. So there was a lot of interest around painting it for me, it wasn't just another painting.
When painting the foliage either side of the waterfall I managed to develop an almost abstract way of describing the foliage.
I was filled with total exhilaration once I had done this. As it took the painting from boring traditional into another level.
I had pretty much finished the painting and was really happy with it. The last thing to do was the leaves right in the foreground.
I watched the video and started painting them, and to my horror I thought that I had ruined the painting! I had a break from it for a day and then re studied the video. Then came back and surprised myself totally with the completed result.
In the end the person I was doing the commission for commented on how she loved the leaves, so it was well worth all the hard work gone into painting them.
I showed one of my neighbors the painting shortly after completing it. Her words were "you did THAT"???!!!
At that point I knew the painting was complete, and that I had achieved the success I was after with it.

“Renaissance Roses” series 2
(3 part set) IN PROGRESS ..✨✨

Photos from Amanda's Fine Art's post 29/04/2022

Hello everyone! ✨✨

This is my latest Painting !
“The Walk”
inspired from a Sunlit Forest in Portland, Oregon called Forest Park.
It’s a walk that my Daughter used to take her Dog for walks in, and send my lovely photo’s of it.
It is my very first forest scene ever done, and totally self taught. Which had moments of
“I’m not going to be able to sell my art”, “I’m not good enough”..you name it, it all came in while I was painting this picture set.
I have used both oils both traditional and water soluble. It was during a time just before covid, where my Daughter was living overseas, and I couldn’t see her at the time, so just resorted to these photos. But it’s these photos is what kept us alive, and in communication as Mother and Daughter. Shortly after receiving these photos, covid did actually erupt and I ended up having to downsize my living area, as the offices closed and I was unable to continue my well paid job (the 9-5).
It was all very well downsizing, but then it cut across my creativity, as I no longer had a studio!
I had to climb my way back up again, and eventually got more 9-5 office work and moved into another nice place with a new studio.
The thing is with this story, is that I decided I would paint this ages ago. Got stopped, then continued on with my intention to create something, and today finished the painting that I had dreamt about creating…and here is is.

Love,
Amanda

Story of an Artist
(Continued day14)

I just received my first Waterfall Commission !!!
Sooo excited to do this!
I have wanted to paint one of these for ages.
Decided to do it large, to make it really impressive. Its to go over the customer's sofa in their new home.
The magic about this painting, is that it's a place where the customer went on one of
their first dates. And it's the fun they had that day, that they want reminding of by this painting in their home...So this commission is a little special, and I can't wait to do my thing on it.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to paint this.

Story of an Artist
(Continued Day 13).

Hi Everyone,
So today I completed a huge 70 x 100cm canvas, which is a larger version of the small one done a couple of weeks back.
The idea of this happened purely by accident!
I was uploading the smaller version, and accidentally zoomed in on it...
While seeing this huge, in a beautiful setting, I realised that this was what I should do with it next. So that people who have large spaces can benefit from the sculptured piece of Artwork too. I realized after viewing it, that I actually preferred it large. It somehow made it look more impressive, and seems to have a bit more of a wow factor about it.
Of course, I had to get to grips with scaling it up onto a bigger canvas.
I also found that when mixing up the texture paste, it had to be just the right consistency, so it did run down the canvas as I was applying it. Eventually had to put the canvas flat on the floor to let it dry for a while to prevent this. But it was all great experience, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
But also frightening when I saw the texture paste start to run, but I handled it smoothly in the end.

Story of an Artist
(Continued day 12)

Waking up in the morning knowing that I have commission to do, gets me out of bed quicker than anything. I often get my most creative ideas sometimes when I'm going to sleep or when i'm waking up, in the quiet times..
My camera is full of images still to paint. I think "Ohh that would make a good painting"! alot.
I sometimes wonder if I will ever run out of ideas to paint. But then comes in a creative thought that is sometimes a lot better than previous ones, which makes me wonder just how much more there is..
I will paint till I drop, as it is the main thing in me that I know is good, and gives pleasure to others around me.

Story of an Artist
(Continued day 11)

I was sitting at my dinning room table one day, discussing work with one of my relatives.
The subject of me and my Art came up, and I was hit with the comment "that's not a real job"!
Said in such a way to belittle any thought of being successful in that area. Or incinuating that when you are creating artwork, it isn't "real work".
I didn't challenge the comment, as I knew it would get me no where.
But instead I got myself through College, despite that person letting me down with child care during my final term of the course. Then decided to show that person, that I could not only do it, but could succeed at it and earn far more than doing a "real job" where you work "real hard" with lots of effort for a mere apitance. And in one sale made what that person was "working hard" to earn in three weeks...
I worked blood sweat and tears to be as good as I am. I sometimes spend weeks on one painting, to make sure that it's good enough. But money was never the reason I wanted to paint.
And have probably given away far more than I've sold for that reason. It's what is gives someone else..

Story of an Artist
(Continued day 10)

I was at College doing a couple of weeks in the print room as part of my Foundation course to become an Artist. My printing turned out quite well and I gained good marks for it. So my teacher at the time tried to encourage me to go off onto a printing pathway, rather than painting and drawing. My world had just caved in...all I wanted, was to be really good at painting and drawing, and wanted to be shown how to do it.
Of course I didn't take her advise, even though for a moment, I thought maybe she was right.
I'm so glad I stuck to my own dreams and desires..I have ended up selling almost all of the work I have done so far. And with more study and practice, I am becoming better and better at it.
To this day, I am so glad that I persisted, as now my whole life has changed because of it.
The following is a print done by myself at that time, of the body. As we were studying various different Artists's work in order to be able to paint and draw the body. If you look closely at the background, one of the figures is a dancer, who was a neighbour that I grew up with.

Hello everyone,
This is the painting that I exhibited in the Dubai Interior Design Exhibition.
It was quite an experience doing it there, as the way to get accepted in Dubai is through a personal contact. Not as we do it here via the computer. If one person likes you there & if he happens to be a Sheikh, then your luck is in, as he will recommend you to his friends. It has to come from a friend in order for their culture to truly accept you. I became known to Property Developers and then I found that once I was accepted with one, then they all connected up with me on LinkedIn at that time, which was a great resource to have...I also felt that I was
doing my bit for world peace on earth, by being willing to do business with them, which they respected. I also got to know some very genuine people there.

My story of an Artist
(Continued day 7)

At college I was studying " History of 20th Century Art & Design", I chose
to research Degas. For which I gained a distinction for the project done.
During one of the lessons, my lecturer talked about how Degas has died.
All of a sudden sitting there in front row of the class I felt a huge sudden
surge of grief. As if a loved one or close friend had died. The feeling was
quite powerful, and not your usual light feeling. To this day, I still don't
know what that was all about, but I'm sure one day I will find out.
But all I know is that I became very interested when studying about him, and that time period.
Below is one of my first prints done at that time, the two children in the print are my own
when they were younger, and one of Degas drawings that I loved.

Till tomorrow,
Amanda.

RENAISSANCE OF THE ROSES"
Oil on canvases, with texturing.

Hello everyone.
This is my finale piece to go with the first one..
They have been created as a set, but could be bought separately also.
Previous to doing both these canvases I had studied up on how to make my own texture paste, and how to paint these with the pallet knife. So I am extremely proud to present these creations
totally of my own imagination.
The second canvas, after a while turned into a painting of its own. Whereby I was able to take information from the first already done canvas, and use it to go further on the second.
These are both currently for sale, anyone who is interested out your email into the comments below.
Enjoy the rest of your day...

"Summer Sunset"
It was such a lovely summer's eve..
The sun was just setting. I was standing in a residential area, but it was quite high up, so could see some amazing views of the sky. I suddenly noticed the summer sunset, which was a rare thing in England. There was something about the fact that the evening was warm, still light and the sky was just romancing with itself, that took my attention for a moment.
I decided to record this moment, being such a lovely one to share with all.
I couldn't just pass it by, I had to photograph it and brought it back to my studio.
The only colours I had in the studio at the time were the ones in the painting.
I started doing it and then decided to go abstract with it, because of the colours!
It turned out to be one of my most favoured paintings from viewers who had seen it at exhibitions etc, and sold to several customers.
There was also something about the way in which I had blended he colours, and the amount of linseed added to the oils that really worked. Plus it gave the painting a soft feel about it, which represented the softness in the sky that day

Hello everyone.
I wanted to introduce my latest piece of Artwork " Renaissance of Roses" to you.
This is an original sculptured oil painting. 50 x 50cm on canvas. Inspired by a visit to Waitrose Supermarket one day, when I passed a beautiful bunch of roses. I just had to photograph them. Then came home and this was my result. I was trying to capture the French look, of a time period way back, and so this was my reasoning for keeping it white.
I hope you like it...
