**VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR MEAL DELIVERY WITH AGE UK**
As we are approaching the winter months, more elderly residents are less likely to go out.
One of the concerns that we all have for loved ones staying at home is whether they regularly have access to healthy nutritious food.
This is why we are re-launching our collaboration with Age UK to ensure that more hot meals are delivered to residents.
If you would like to take meals to residents at lunch time, say hello and have a short friendly chat at the doorstep, please complete this form: https://darlingtonsupport.uk/ageuk
You could participate in this project whenever you wish and as often as it suits you, including at weekends. All mileage costs will be reimbursed.
The volunteering sessions start at around 11:45am when we collect the meals from Age UK’s offices in the town centre. We normally complete the deliveries before 1pm.

***VACCINE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED***
First, a massive THANK YOU once again to everyone who responded to our request to help with the vaccine rollout earlier in the year. Your contribution has been phenomenal and enormously contributed to the huge success of the vaccine programme in Darlington.
However, it is not over yet!
We are expecting an increase in the demand for vaccines in the coming winter months. Therefore, we have new volunteering opportunities at the vaccination sites in Cockerton and in Firthmoor.
We recognise that many of you have already given so much since the start of the pandemic, and our community is grateful to you for that. But we would also appreciate any additional support that you can offer our residents. If you would like to join the team and help with the vaccine rollout, please complete this form: https://darlingtonsupport.uk/vaccine
Thank you for all your support.

Thank you Darlo!
We are delighted to announce that we were one of the finalists in last week's Northern Echo Health and Care Awards.
We are particularly proud that we were the only finalist (out of over 30 others) who is not remunerated or paid for the services provided to the community whether in salary, external funding or charges.
Without the amazing work, selflessness and persistent dedication of so many compassionate people in our town who have been taking a huge amount of time out of their daily and busy lives, we would not have been able to even dream of achieving this, let alone be where we are now in just a year.
***VACCINE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED***
Nearly a year ago, our town faced an unprecedented pandemic. Instead of letting the virus defeat us, a large number of local people stepped up to the challenge and volunteered their time and energy to help the vulnerable residents of our community. It has been a difficult journey for everyone, but the end is in sight.
Many of you have already been making a massive contribution to our effort to help as many people as possible receive the vaccine. Whether you have been volunteering as marshals, drivers, vaccinators or in other roles, each hour you spend brings our lives back to normal sooner.
To speed up the process of rolling out the vaccine, new opportunities have become available. These include marshals, data entry volunteers and team leaders.
Shifts are either from 8am to 2pm or from 2pm to 8pm, any day of the week. Travel expenses and mileage costs will be reimbursed, and refreshments will be provided.
If you would like to bring the end of this pandemic closer by taking part in one shift or more, please complete this form: https://darlingtonsupport.uk/vaccine
As ever, huge thanks for all you do.

Update from Louise, the wonderful community champion at our local Asda:
“Darlington Support assists residents by matching them to volunteers who could provide support during the pandemic including dog walking, shopping and walk and talk.
“Volunteer Carole works with our Fight Hunger Create Change trolley charity King's Foodbank and collects three times a week from all the collection points for the charity across various locations. This month we donated some top-up items the food bank were running short of, including baby items.”
