Mental Health Motorbike
The mental health motorbike exists to create meaningful opportunities so that together we grow the wellbeing of the motorbike community.
We do this through online projects, activities and events throughout the UK. Registered Charity Number 1196406
MHMB North Wales - Come and join the team!
Hi my name is Scott Hebson and I'm the new regional Coordinator for Mental Health Motorbike in North Wales.
If you ride motorbikes, you know how much fun it is, being in the moment, focusing on the road and the scenery around you, riding with mates, visiting cafes and biker locations to socialise and share your passion. Within the charity we use the motorbike as a tool for breaking down social isolation and getting people talking whenever they are struggling.
We all have mental health (there is no health without mental health) and gaining control over your mental health is about increasing awareness and understanding of
what mental health is, and how to manage your own mental capacities to feel OK about the challenges life throws at us. Sometimes it needs a friend, family member or external support to help you maintain positive mental health.
Mental Health Motorbike is a free face to face and online mental health first aid support charity for the bike community throughout the UK. We are here to promote
the wellbeing benefits of motorcycling, and to provide a
network of support for bikers and their families.
- We do this through
- One-to-one conversations
- Sharing and talking about our biking passion
- Peer support
- Face to face events
- Training courses
- One off projects
As a charity we aim to have a mental health first aider in every town & city in the UK, so we can create a greater awareness of mental health and normalise the discussion around mental health, which in turn we hope will reduce su***de in the bike community. We aim to break the stigma about talking about poor mental health.
We work in partnership within the bike industry, clubs, cafes, sponsors and bike shops and run an active programme of life changing mental health programmes and activities and you can help us in spreading the word.
Check the Mental Health Motorbike website and calendar to see what we do and join us for a cuppa and a catch up.

Some moments are truly worth the wait. After 3 years of support I finally get to meet my friend Michael Ruff.
It is fair to say when Mike first came across us he wasn't in a great place, over the years we've worked together and his involvement with the charity has really helped him. Meeting him today was one of the highlights of my year so far. Mike has become a really strong ambassador for the charity and talks about his own mental health struggles and how the charity has helped him, even done his mental health first-aid training - his story shows just what we are achieving with the charity.
Having a couple of meetings at Squires today come and say hello if you are around!
August is a bumper month for Mental Health Motorbike events...
Over the next few days (starting tomorrow at 8am) we will share what's coming up...
If you live nearby or fancy a ride on your bike - stick these in your diary and come and meet the team !
What a great bit of news!! Well done Molly and the team at Orwell Motorcycles Ltd
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all that donated & purchased raffle tickets, as you have helped us raise a wonderful £1524!🤩💸❤️
Every penny of the money raised will be evenly split, and donated to Mental Health Motorbike and St Elizabeth Hospice 👏🏼
These charities work tirelessly to look after people in desperate need of support. They exist largely due to volunteers and charity donations. So although our raffle has ended, they are always welcoming donations!
Head to their pages to find out other ways you can donate/help❤️
So, from all of us at Orwell’s - thank you❤️👏🏼

A really smashing meeting yesterday at the Owls Nest, Llandovery to say a big thankyou to Nick & Griff from the Taffy Dakar Riders, who have raised a fantastic £1500 for Mental Health Motorbike.
There are some amazing bikers out there doing wonderful things to support those who might be struggling.
Again big thanks to Nick & Griff

Background
Following the su***de of a friend we wanted to do more for people dealing with depression. I’ve been a biker for over 30 years so it seemed obvious... Get a BMW r1200GSA and use it as a tool to break the ice and reach out biker community.
I have been a community development worker for 25+ years and this has meant supporting and counselling a wide range of people. The starting point will be a series of pop-up tea rooms at bike related events which the new logo’d bike as the guest. This will be an opportunity to come and talk about more than just the bike. the Mental Health Motorbike will be a sign posting service for the biker community to explore the next steps on their road to getting better.
Metal Health Motorbike is me (Paul Oxborough) and Jay Lucas at the moment but if successful it will grow into a team and develop a training programme to reach more people. We also have an active team of volunteers to help at events.
Our team have qualified Mental Health First Aider’s and work with a small team of other organisations offering mental health support services.
