Now I think his mum really does need to set him up his own insta...... ;)

We've been a bit quiet on here recently - but we have been busy and loving it! So thank you so much to everyone who has supported The Visiting Vet Company so far and look forward to meeting more of you soon!
MY BOYS | These two are the inspiration behind the business - they gave me the idea to set this business up as I was so grateful to be able to carry out their care at home throughout their later years and I realised many people I spoke to wished they didn't have to take their pets from their comfort zone to visit the vet, particularly during their senior years. I hope to bring senior pet health to the fore, increasing awareness of health issues and making detection of problems more accessible to those unable to visit a vet practice or those with concerns about taking their pet from their home to go to the vets.
Did you know age-related conditions in cats can start from as early as 7 years old? Some of the signs to look out for include:
Increased thirst
Change in appetite
Weight loss
Altered activity levels
Change in coat condition
Change in behaviour
With early detection of disease, comes greater chance of your pet leading as normal a life as possible. Many conditions can be managed successfully with medications, diets or therapies and often this can lead to a new lease of life!
Please have a look at the 'old timers' section on our website https://www.thevisitingvet.co.uk/old-timers and fill in our 'senior cat health check' questionnaire, and drop us an email at [email protected] if you have any worries regarding your senior cat.
AT THE VISITING VET we routinely check the blood pressure of all cats over the age of 7 at vaccinations or consultations. High blood pressure is common in the senior cat so we hope we can detect this early in any of our patients.

PSA | Here at The Visiting Vet Company we will continue to wear (FFP2/FFP3) masks during our visits and kindly request our clients also wear a face mask whilst we are visiting your home. We continue to lateral flow test frequently and will not attend your home if we are positive. We ask if you are ill, to please let us know and we will willingly rearrange the appointment with you. WHY? well, other than keeping everyone as safe as possible and feeling strongly these decisions should be based on science and not politics...we want everyone to feel comfortable when we visit their home. We have a lot of vulnerable clients who we want to keep safe and who really appreciate the measures we have in place. It is also pretty difficult to keep safe distances from each other where animals and veterinary care are involved!! Furthermore, we would like to be able to carry on treating your pets rather than have to take time off sick...have you heard that replacement vets are like gold dust??!! Thank you lovely lot in advance for your understanding! J x
SUSTAINABILITY PLEDGE | We are stepping up to make a difference and drive change in the veterinary industry. We are able to recycle masks, gloves and other single use plastics with . We use Bio Bins for our clinical waste, instead of the widely used single use plastic bins. We use recycled syringes and recyclable (or recycle already circulating) packaging for parcels, as well as dispensing medication in recyclable packaging. We are a Bee Friendly Veterinary Practice and proud members of the British Bee Veterinary Society. We have a 'one of a kind' home euthanasia service in partnership with where no plastic bags are used or cremated. We work with where we do require an ecological alternative. There is always more we can do so we will endeavour to improve and promote sustainability in the industry wherever we can. Next steps for us - work on the veterinary industry as a whole to allow easier recycling of medical blister packs and wider availability of recycling and plastic free waste management, as well as progressing to electric vehicles for our fleet. Thanks to for helping get us to this point.
INTERESTING FACT: We learnt from the other day that biodegradable and compostable poo bags are not the same thing. Biodegradable poo bags do break down over (a long) time and may contain micro plastics whereas certified plant based compostable poo bags containing no plastics are SO much better for the environment! Don't get drawn in by the 'biodegradable' label! We love for their certified compostable plastic free corn starch poo bags!
VET CARE AT HOME | The lovely Abby is now on the mend after a run-in with a nasty bug. Usually not the biggest fan of trips to the vet, she welcomes us into her home with a waggy tail (and sometimes her ball!) and we've even heard her sing - the highest honour, according to her mum and dad! She's had examinations, blood tests, injections, even physio with .4.physio - all from the comfort of her spot in front of the fire and she has been the perfect patient! Seems mobile vets are much more her style - as well as the liver paste snacks, of course!
