Elusive equilibrium βοΈ
Life is constantly in flux. I find balance momentarily and then the scales tip again.
That's ok, after all to find balance we must explore imbalance. This familiar back and forth dance of wobbling in times of challenge and uncertainty, recalibrating and finding stability once more...until the next time!
Yoga and being out in nature help to balance me out.
How do you find balance?
As we approach the spring equinox, we will focus on balance in yoga class this month, please get in touch if.you would like to come along. π
After a 6 and a half hour rail journey (and yet to arrive at my destination!) Travelodge-pyjama-yoga is just what the doctor ordered! π

One year ago today Garland Yoga was born!
Thank you with all my heart to anyone who has supported me in my . From engaging on social media to attending classes, to mentoring, supporting, listening, and simply asking how it's going. I have truly felt the love π
As well as external challenges 2021 has presented, I have fought internal battles to be able to stand up and lead a class πͺπ. I am so thankful to have had the support and resources to do this. In the words of "Yoga grabs us by the scruff of the neck and takes us on a journey, whether we like it or not!"π
As things feel uncertain once again, it is more important than ever to give yourself what you need; run, craft, draw, walk, talk, move, breathe, meditate, hug your pet! Whatever. Just be kind to yourself xx
βLast yoga class of 2021β
Tonight (15th Dec) 7-8pn.
It's not too late to book on and give yourself the gift of rebalancing body and mind and reconnecting to self.

I am having a little break from teaching yoga this week, spending some time with my beautiful daughter in the gorgeous Peak District. She was less than impressed with me when I suggested a trek up Mam Tor, but the rewards were well worth it! ππ
Wendesday evening in-person yoga class will be back next week at 7pm, dm me to book your place. π

What even is an advanced yoga practice?
For many years I thought it was being able to contort oneself into super bendy shapes, many sources of reference and some past yoga classes have reinforced this notion.
The first image is from about 4 years ago. My anatomy allows me to access postures that require a high degree of mobility, and this often earned me praise and attention others. As a child my ego soon cottoned on to this and I felt driven to push my body into aesthetic shapes, moving my myself into discomfort and sometimes pain to appease my ego. This is not yoga. Yoga is informative, not performative.
My has taught me that the real advanced practice (for me, at least) is;
π§ββοΈfinding stilness
π« noticing my breath, without trying to control it
πSoftening into a posture, letting go of unnecessary effort
πlistening to the needs of my body and responding with sensitivity and kindness
As the trees let go of that which no longer serves them, the changing of the seasons is a fitting time to reflect on how we might do the same
We can easily become weighed down with tensions in the mind and body. Letting go of unnecessary burdens can help to clear the way for new growth.π±
We will be exploring this in class on Monday 7-8pm (Zoom) and Wednesday 7-8pm (in person), DM to join π
Pawanmuktasana (wind relieving posture)
πͺStrengthens the back and abdominal muscles.
πΈAids digestion
π«Enhances blood circulation in the hip joints

I am very excited to share that from Wednesday 1st September I will be offering yoga classes in-person!
You can expect a gentle asana (posture) practice, breath awareness and techniques to help quieten the mind.
There will be plenty of encouragement to be guided by your own individual range of mobility, felt sense and breath. Aiming to meet yourself wherever you're at, with compassion and curiosity.π
Please DM me if you would like to book! π
Thank you so much for your kind words and support Chris π
Happy to be of service π
Join me for an hour of gentle, intentional movement, breath awareness and relaxation.π
I feel very honoured to have a few new followers of late, so thought it was high time I gave a little background to who I am and what I do.
π±I have been a regular yoga practitioner for 15 years, for a long time I suffered with what I was told was IBS and I was struck by the extent to which my symptoms were releived by a regular yoga practice. I then started to notice the transformation that would occur when I came to the mat feeling anxious or aggitated, by the end of my practice emotions had shifted.
π»I trained as a children's yoga teacher in 2018 and have been privileged to teach yoga to children age 3 to 11 in the Primary School that I work at.
π³ I completed my 200 hours TTC one year ago with in August 2020. Since then I have taught online......so far!
π My approach to teaching places an emphasis on deeply listening to the breathe, body and felt sense and honouring our individual range of mobility.
