After a closely contested first half, in which we had the majority of possession and moved the ball round well, we went into the break at 0-0. We then conceded early in the second half after a foul on Matt Hickson was not given which was extremely frustrating. We got back into the game through Bill Wigley and we looked the stronger team with Tom Hall’s calmness and clever passing enabling the team to push on and search for more goals. Unfortunately a couple of errors at the back lead to Biggleswade taking a 3-1 lead. We kept going and a tidy first time finish from Jakesy made it 3-2. As we were pushing in search of an equaliser Biggleswade scored after one of their players controlled the ball with his hand - but again the referee waved away the protests and gave the goal. All in all we didn’t deserve to lose but yet again we did which is highly frustrating. But the fact we never give up these days is credit to how far we have come as a team.

A frustrating one to take after controlling large portions of the game, passing around nicely and the opposition found it difficult to compete so resorted to long ball which caught us out. We never gave up and everyone put in a shift but it was not to be.

Eaton Socon Veterans FC are looking for new players. Players must be 35 and over.
We are keen to hear from any players who wish to join, including those that haven’t played for a while and want to get back playing. We are interested in players for all positions but are particularly looking for goalkeepers and forwards.

We usually train on Monday and Wednesday, 9-10pm evenings on the main astro pitch at One Leisure, Eynesbury but are currently playing in a summer league so are training Thursdays 8-9 for the next couple of weeks. We are joining the PDFL Vets South Division for the new season after spending some time in the Bedfordshire FA 11 a side Vets league.
