Colour mixing, to me, is the hardest part of cookie decorating. It’s like some dark magic alchemy 😂

50th Birthday Bespoke Biscuits.

The brief for this set was a little “loose” 😂.

“Tell me about your friend” I said.

“Umm… he’s going to be 50. He likes Jazz. Oh and we’re going to Southsea to celebrate. Colours? Hmm. Dunno. You decide”.

So I tried to incorporate a celebratory feel, with a nod to music, but keeping the overall look masculine. How did I do? 😁

Ok, I know it’s not Christmas anymore, but since my family didn’t celebrate Christmas until February this year, I see no reason not to post Christmas cookies in March.

I’m s little in love with this set. I had such fun working on the Santa Gnome and mistletoe in particular. I’m definitely going to play with these designs some more in future.

Christmas or not, it’s always a good time to enjoy some handmade biscuits. Come and order yours! 😄

Christmas tree cookies in Irish tricolour. 🎄🎄🎄

I’ve been desperate to share these, but as these were being shared out in the Leeds Irish Health & Homes Christmas craic-packs, I didn’t want to spoil the surprise until the last pack had been delivered.

The theme was “Irish colours”, and we decided xmas trees would be the perfect way to incorporate the green, white and orange, even if orange isn’t the most traditional of Christmas colours. 😊

Baking, decorating, packaging and shipping over 500 cookies is quite a full-on task, I’ll tell you, but I love a challenge, and it was incredibly satisfying to see them all together at the end.

I’m looking forward to working with LIHH again in the future.

I can’t get enough of sunflowers at the moment. Like these giant buttercream sunflowers on this tiny little 6 inch birthday cake. I just couldn’t stop! Sunflowers everywhere. 🌻🌻🌻

The cake itself was for any Irish lady, so I used Irish cream flavoured icing sugar for the buttercream, and made a chocolate sponge for the cake, with a layer of apricot jam and buttercream icing in the centre.

Go big or go home! 😂

Baby Noah arrived on Friday the 13th! and was so keen to get here, he arrived a few weeks early. But the great news is that he and mum are both doing perfectly well, and dad couldn’t be prouder of both of them. 💕💕💕

Golden Wedding Celebration Cake.

This 50th wedding anniversary cake needed to travel 200 miles, for 3 days, in hot weather to its destination. 😱😨😱

To make it as stable as possible, I went for a fondant cover rather than buttercream. The inside was a luscious sponge with strawberries jam and buttercream filling.

Rarely has a cake been more mollycoddled than this baby! 😅. Padded seats, padded box, seatbelt, and me screaming “MIND THE CAKE!!!” every time we went round a roundabout. 🤣🤦‍♀️😂

But it got there in one piece. 🎉🎉🎉

You don’t always need a special occasion to send someone beautiful bespoke biscuits. Sometimes you just want to let someone know you’re thinking about them.

Especially when, like so many people right now, someone is having a rough time and you can’t be there to give them a hug.

This week it was my great privilege to create 450 Shamrock Cookies for a client who provides care packs to the Leeds Irish community, for the vulnerable and for those shielding. ☘️☘️☘️

Following quick on the heels of St Patrick’s Week, and due in time for delivery to the community at Easter, there was a LOT to get done in just 6 days.
